Howard Dean is not Presidential
He is not presidential because:

He does not have scripted press conferences

He does not manipulate intelligence to support a war he decided to wage far in advance

He does not put protesters against him in "first amendment zones" up to a mile away

He does not reveal the identity of undercover CIA agents

He does not lie to the American people about immanent threats to our security

He does not turn a surplus into a deficit

He does not give large tax cuts to the wealthiest 1%

He does not engage in photo ops at tax payer expense

Yes, Howard Dean is not presidential, and for that I say, thank God!

For those on the board that read our posts, Clark4Prez happens to be my husband. He is 1.) Hardly desperate for compliments 2.) definitely not wading in a pool of low self-esteem 3.) A better man than many, if not most.

This man, weeks ago began his journey out of Dean-bashville. It might behoove certain posters to remove themselves from whatever state of bashville they currently reside.

Haughtiness is just a transparent mask one wears when one fears.

23. Are we a little bit into denial here?
Presidential? Don't you think it's needed in a Presidential candidate? I do. And I haven't seen it in Dean, to put it mildly.

And I'm not talking mainly about his primal scream, I'm talking about the emotional tirade he went into right before that, where he was waving his fists, yelling the names of states, contorting his face beyond recognition and turning all red, in a passionate rage that LOOKED like old Hitler speeches. Jaws dropped all over as it was quite a spectacle.

And this after the guy only just lost a pretty meaningless little state Caucus. What's he going to do when real things are at stake?

I wouldn't want the finger of a guy like that on the nuclear button.

November is going to be tough competition. It's not enough to just have the base locked up, you need the middle too, and Dean just has no appeal to the middle. He's even losing the base. It's over for him.

Go Kerry!

25. Kerry is fine--but your post is SO two days ago.
Bashing threads are very UNCOOL now on DU.

If you want to be part of the new exciting and with-it crowd, you must reconsider your evil ways and join the movement for reconciliation.

It is much better for your blood pressure, too (as I can personally attest).

37. I have my opinion, you don't have to like it...
and just because you don't like it, you don't have to call it "bashing"
because my opinion was factual. It was about where Dean stood in the campaign based on recent ACTUAL events and I stand by it.

It seems like the majority of Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire and elsewhere agree too, Dean's finished. I used to root for him, and nothing personal but I can't anymore.

38. This is, poster
"I wouldn't want the finger of a guy like that on the nuclear button."

Standard line for regular Dean bashing - maybe you didn't realize that when you posted it, so I thought I would be kind and let you know that statements like that are indeed, taken unkindly.

39. well you know, what you just said...
is taken unkindly.

Basically you're saying "don't practice free speech if it's about Dean and it isn't something favorable because it's taken unkindly"

this is a forum for different opinions, you're not going to agree with all of them.

You said, "Basically you're saying "don't practice free speech if it's about Dean and it isn't something favorable because it's taken unkindly"

Your comments which I referred to, say nothing favorable about anyone. I do not take issue with someone saying something favorable about any candidate. I take issue with someone saying something unfavorable about any one person, or any one candidate. The GD rules are quite clear: debate on issues is valid, but unsupported, opinionate bashing is not allowed.

The assumptions you've made of me are inaccurate, and the proof rests not only in my archived posts, but in the opinions of many Dean supporters. Should you question my character based on one post? Before you make a blanket statement about me, I suggest you do some research.

52. if you're still out there...
your statement:

"Your comments which I referred to, say nothing favorable about anyone. I do not take issue with someone saying something favorable about any candidate. I take issue with someone saying something unfavorable about any one person, or any one candidate. The GD rules are quite clear: debate on issues is valid, but unsupported, opinionate bashing is not allowed."

was soooo in error, I'm coming to think it's useless to argue with you.

The GD rules don't require all statements about any one person or candidate be "favorable". (Really, check them again.) The rules require DEBATE ON ISSUES IS VALID. That's what I provided, DEBATE.

The rules don't allow UNSUPPORTED BASHING. Well, I SUPPORTED MY CRITICISMS, AND THEY WERE FACTS, NOT BASHING.

41. I love this argument
"I wouldn't want the finger of a guy like that on the nuclear button."

The logic seems to be that a guy who got out of hand at a rally is highly likely to lose his temper and launch a tactical nuclear strike as an overreaction to something. I can just see it now. President Dean is engaged in diplomatic talks with Iran. The ambassador makes a verbal faux pas of some sort. Dean's feelings are hurt and he screams "You motherfucker!!!" and runs over to "The Button" and vaporizes Tehran, just to teach the ambassador a lesson. A chastened Dean must appear on Jay Leno two days later to turn the PR spin around. He straps on a guitar and starts plaing with Jay' s band, when Wyclef Jean jumps onstage and the two perform "Jaspora" together.

On the serious side...

Ronald Reagan had some of the most reckless military policies in recent memory but he came off like grandpa in public so no one questioned his fitness to act as commander-in-chief. I can understand people feeling personally put off by Dean's behavior Monday, but the idea that it will affect military policy is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion.

until after I submitted mine. Your statement was perfectly clear and needed no further elucidation from me. I appreciate what you said.

I love the whole notion of there even BEING a "button", like it's a big red one built into the oval office desk, right next to the Post-It notes, which, when pressed, will cause a thermonuclear missle to launch from under the dome at the top of the Capitol building.

We all need to keep in mind that the candidate that gets trashed today may be our nominee for the general election. Anyone trashing candidates is just hurting themselves and in fact, the entire country.

33. My friend
My rabid loyalty to my better half has kept me on his thread for several minutes now. I can see that he does not need me, as the voice of reason is here to defend in my sted.

I have to ask you, as that lauded voice of reason, is it just me, or are the oppositions coming from new sources of dissent? Did the tides at DU really turn, or just the polls? (I assume you catch my meaning.)

I think you two are seeing how this presidential race is shaping up.

There's something intangible about Wes that rubs me wrong, and I won't try and defend that reaction...I can't really explain it, because I don't understand it myself, thoroughly.

Wes supporters like you, though, ease some of those concerns, and that's rare in my experience.

It's time to circle the wagons, but with the guns pointing outside for once.
