Kerry isn't seen as being angry. Can you imagine the media outrage if Dean had said "Bush fucked up Iraq"? It would have been terrible. What if Dean had made fun of Gandhi? The democratic establishment would have had his head on a platter. If he called Kerry a "junior officer" he would have been hanged drawn and quartered. The media did a hatchet job on Dean, and we should all be very afraid. It's very possible that the Democratic Nominee will get the same in November.
I'm not giving up on Dean, I think there is still hope. If I were to give up on Dean I think that Edwards would be my second choice. The Clark (and some of the Kerry) supporters around here have driven me away from their candidates by the way they've acted. They've played attack politics and then blamed Dean for being negative. I'm not even sure if they are all Democrats. The only candidate I'm really opposed to at this point is Clark. I will support him is it comes down to that, but I don't like his talk of faith, family, and patriotism. Sounds alot like Bush to me. I want a Democrat who is a Democrat. Not a Republican who feels like running for president and is using us because thats his only option. Sorry, but Clark hasn't proven to me that he's a Democrat worthy of my vote, and his supporters here who use 'freeper' tactics haven't swayed my opinion.
I'm waiting for a few weeks before I drop Dean, I don't think he's done yet. In the end I'll support any one to the left of Bush.

That drove me away from a particular candidate. These swipes do nobody no good. If you don't like a candidate for who he is then say so, don't try to blame it on the supporters! If I did this I would never be able to vote for any candidate. Think about that.

The "fucked up" quote has not come back to hurt Kerry yet. Maybe that is one of the things that will come out with a bang when its time to take Kerry down and confuse voters all-the-more.

come back because the Democrats have Bush saying the same and worse. So if they "out" Kerry then they have to fear the Democrats will "out" Bush's potty mouth too.

And, look, you alone can decide for whom you vote. Vote for any candidate in our party, but just be sure to vote.

but don't be too hard on Clark. He has lots of assets and has taken some shots at Bush that others have not. Kerry and others were too hard on Dean, and it's unfortunate that it worked for them (except Gep). But Kerry's a good guy, and on our side, so in the end I would easily support him. Edwards too. My main concern is beating Bush; and I believe that will be very difficult. If I believed that certain candidates could do that, I would go all out for them. But right now it looks dim, and I'm not sure who has the best shot. Perhaps Kerry because he is so tall and makes a good impression. Maybe Edwards because he is youthful, positive, and energetic, and most of all, is from the South. Clark can bring some independents and repugs along, and is from the South. Dean is the most honest, forthright, and the leader, so may be able to pull it off. Don't give up on any of these four.

12. Is that why over 2000 people showed up to see Dean in Keene NH today? |
|
NH voters have a mind of their own. The most watched NH television station aired the debate on a bit of a delay and it turned out that the Howard and Judy Dean interview came on immediately after the debate. It was a phenomenal feel-good interview. NH voters DO watch those debates, and Dean's comments during the debate were the most consistent with the views of NH residents. Oh, and Dean has a couple of great ads running on several NH stations right now. The only other candidate I'm seeing run ads is Lieberman, and his aren't frequent. I'm seeing at least one Dean ad every half hour all day and night long. I wouldn't place any bets on Kerry winning if I were you. :D

Some people see the screaming incident for what it is; some choose not to because are too busy rooting for Dean's downfall. I'm glad those kind are supporting another candidate :bounce:

Howard Dean is a great individual, and has too much to offer for us to give up on him. The people who support other candidates would like nothing better than for us to drop Dean and swing over to their side. All this crap they're putting out about Dean is just a lot of stupid rheoteric. Their candidates are constantly saying stupid things, and no one seems to notice. Maybe it's because they are not colorful nor interesting enough. After my husband saw Dean on Sawyer's interview last night, he likes him even more than he did.

That could be a good point. Apparently Kerry got Gephardt's supporters. Dean's enthusiasm has annoyed some people, personally that is what I liked about him, a can do kind of guy. Tells what he really believes. That's more than can be said for most politicians. The Republicans were hammering on him from day one which makes me think they were worried about him. He is quick on his feet and I have no doubt he could make Bush look like the fool that he is.

Guess I said that right (tok?). Recently on tv there was a shot of Kerry faking smoking a joint. That will look good when the media decides to take their turn on Kerry.

14. Because he doesn't cultivate 'mean'. Does Kerry have a BAT on his website? |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-23-04 09:58 PM by AP
Does Kerry roll up his sleeves like he's about to get in a fist-fight.
When this is all over, I'm going to praise dean for the few things he did right. Here's something that he did half-right. Looking like he cared enough to fight. However, you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
He should have cultivated a more nuanced image of a fighter. He went all out with the anger. (The bat was too much.) It turned on him. Even if nobody ever criticized it, voters still would have smelled something stinky about it.

20. It's the style. Dean has an abrasive personality that will |
|
not play well in the media whores 'merica (and, unfortunately, is yet another reason Dean is completely unelectable). His anger seems, to many voters, more than a little maniacal.
Fair or not, Kerry's smoother, more polished so his anger seems less raw.
Clark's anger comes off as toughness.
If you think personality shouldn't matter in political campaigns, you're probably right. If you think it doesn't you're just dead wrong.
