Feinstein on Senate floor listing Clinton judges who never got hearing
through one means or another--generally no hearing or no vote in committee, or through the blue-slip (which the Rethugs used liberally and Orin Hatch made only "advisory" in 2002).

It is now noon, EST.

5. They just cut her
She started by saying 'as much time as I may consume' and they asked what that might be. She shrugged and said 30 minutes.

They just cut into her statements saying she's been going on for over an hour and she asked her statements be put into the record...then she summed up the numbers.

Now Senator Clinton is up reinforcing Feinstein's statements.

2. Been watching since she started
I wish she'd get a little more animated and shout or something, though. I'm sorry to say, her calming voice starting to put me to sleep.

Ooops! Spoke too soon.

10. Here's what the Daily Kos says.
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/4/28/223716/871

They suggest many, many more Clinton nominees were blocked than Bush II nominees.

By the way, I recall that Rehnquist himself actually complained about the blocking of judicial nominees during the Clinton administration. His position wasn't partisan, just a suggestion that there was a shortage of judges. Interestingly, the Senate GOP only took his advice AFTER we had a 'can president again. :eyes:

7. Keep going ladies!
we are depending on you.... expose the hypocrisy and don't quit until you get a legitimate RESPONSE that shows the difference between then and now... cause there aren't any.

9. I'm glad they're pointing out the hypocrisy.
Did anyone else get a load of Bill Frist mournfully declaring that Priscilla Owen has been waiting for years and that getting an up-or-down vote for a nominee is a matter of "principle" and "fairness"? Where were all these fine sentiments when Clinton's nominees spent years without a HEARING?

As usual, what Frist is doing has nothing to do with principle. It's all stifling any dissenting viewpoint.

12. Not one reporter asked him,"Is it fair to block nominees in committee..."
so they never get an up or down vote on the floor of the Senate?"

You can bet your sweet ass, they did not. The journalistic incompetence never ceases to amaze!
