USA Today, page 4
What do y'all think of the filibuster ad, and it's placement?

When I got the paper today (which I normally don't do, not the McNewspaper anyway) I started from the back, looking for a small ad.

I was pleasantly surprised to find it toward the front. And big.

Will it do any good, do you think?

1. Arrgh! I haven't seen it yet.
I'm hoping that it does some good.

Anytime one of our Dem leaders steps up like this, it lets the people who aren't plugged in as much as we are know what is going on. It lets them know that they need to act, to support, to get angry and DO something.

4. I hate that newspaper
but the ad goes in the scrapbook.

I didn't expect it to be almost a whole page.

3. Sorry. Against the filibuster. The johnkerry.com community.
Almost a full page. Big fat ugly pictures of Delay, Frist and Bush and nice, to the point ad copy.

Infinitely better than the first ad that was in the USA Today a couple of months ago.

Surprised as hell at how big, and how close to the front it is.

8. Depends on how many of you guys there were
The more that paid, the smaller the pie. I hope there were a ton.

I couldn't contribute, but I helped publicize.

5. I'm not sure many readers will see it
but I think USAT has enough circulation and the ad is big enough that politicians will be impacted more than readers.

JK's $$$ and 3 million member e-mail list make him a force to be reckoned with in any case.

7. I wonder if the size was determined by how much they collected
I know that as a PAC, Friends of John Kerry can't use anything but new money, not old contributions.

I'd like to think it's so freaking huge because the community members made it that way.

10. I threw in some $$ - hubby almost had a heart attack
Money is a bit tight but I wanted to see those great pictures of *, Frist and Delay! Those alone are worth skipping lunch.

11. I don't know the rules concerning old $$$ vs. new $$$
but from the e-mail I received soliciting contributions, it appeared to me the size of the ad had already been established.

My opinion: If JK keeps working the next three years like he has since the election - he'll be hard to beat. I know it's a long way off - just an observation...
