Pundits on Inside Washington (PBS) are denouncing Clark
saying that if he didn't have evidence that Bush has been awol and thus committed treason, he should have said "I don't agree with Moore."

How can you prove a negative? I believe Moore has laid out his case quite adequately on his website. Why isn't it BUSH's burden to prove that he WAS present at training in Alabama?

For Clark, it's damned if you do, damned if you don't at this point.

They are also discussing the SOTU address. Jack Garmond of the Baltimore Sun said 5 out of 100 wouldn't even know what he said. They are saying that he didn't have to mention the axis of evil because one of them is gone and two of them are scared.

Bush told the viewers that "he's a tough guy."

Meanwhile, my candidate munches croissants and eclaires. Go figure. :silly:

1. It looks like Clark is the flavor of the week
For the media bash, that said, I think that Wes will come out of it just fine.

We have to accept the media is biased against us, and will attack each and every Dem that they think is a possible threat the resident.

Its gonna be a long and bumpy ride.

5. Yes, they actually said that too
said that if he finishes respectably in NH, then he will be a force to be reckoned with in the south. Also said that anyone in the White House who thinks Bush is now invincible is "a fool."

9. Why are they still not attacking Kerry?
Face it, Kerry's acting like he was smoking a doobie on stage was at least as politically deadly as Dean's pep rally in Iowa. But that didn't last but a day or so...and very little was really made of it. They're no doubt saving it for the general election, though.

Kerry is getting a pass from the press.

29. There are LOTS ...

There are LOTS of Bonesman in influential media positions. No wonder. A Kerry nomination would ensure a Bonesman in the Whitehouse.

2. They are trying their best to get Kerry the nomination.
Clark and Dean have to go for Rove's plan to work. Edwards isn't enough of a threat to worry about for them.

I'll say it again. As a person living smack dab in the middle of the deep south, Clark is the only one that can beat Bush here.

24. I love Pensacola
Spent a little time in Destin not long ago. Didn't enjoy it, though, because it was so overdeveloped. The last time I was there--20 years ago--it was a baren little beach town. Now it's condo city.

It's not on here yet.

Can you also tell me in which terms they denounced it? Was it an O'really-esque "political suicide" or "how stupid" kinda thing?

Edited on Fri Jan-23-04 10:18 PM by jchild
Here's a brief description of the show tonight:

9 News' Gordon Peterson moderates a round-table discussion with nationally recognized journalists Charles Krauthammer (syndicated columnist),Nina Totenberg (NPR), Evan Thomas (Newsweek), and Jack Germond (Baltimore Sun). You can see Inside Washington Saturday night at 7 pm and again on Sunday at 11 am.

By the way, Bill Moyers is on now ripping the head of a conservative association about Bush being too free with spending. The conservative guy is really pissed off with bush and said that his spending policy is no different than Democrats.

The world's a crazy place sometimes, isn't it?

14. Cool, thanks!
This morning I used the term "Last Rites" in a post regarding the death of the freeper media... then followed it up with the statement, "we're coming for you Bush. Better get your house in order."

Now my dear hubby scolds me - says the Secret Service is gonna be here any moment now...

Anyone else care to join us in vicious acts of treason?

Bush was AWOL. (tee hee...)

27. actually
Bush was AWOL.

Being AWOL in wartime is desertion.

Bush is a deserter!

As I recall, I think that technically desertion is being AWOL from combat, not necessarily AWOL in a time of war. So if Bush had been in a unit in Nam (hahahaha! oh, like Poppy would have ever let that happen!), and he left his post, it would be desertion even if he wasn't in a situation at the time where the enemy was engaged (like just being there in the war zone is combat and you get combat pay for that even if you might have such a cushy post that you may never see the enemy or fire a weapon or have an enemy fire their weapon at you). Since he wasn't in the war zone overseas, it would be just AWOL... but AWOL is plenty bad enough.

So I'll say it - BUSH WAS AWOL!

Damn, that felt good.

13. They're the journalists, not Clark
"If Clark doesn't have the evidence...." Now he's supposed to do their jobs for them?

The fact is nobody can prove (or hasn't yet) where the hell Bush was in 1972. So we have a President who used his connections to avoid Vietnam, took off a year when he felt like doing something else, and probably used his connections to cover his tracks.

Later, when he gets selected to the White House, he lies in order to get support for a war, has no effective plans post-occupation, fails to brings significant allied support along, and, as a result, is forcing tens of thousands of Americans, some of them Guardsmen, to do extended tours in a hostile and often deadly environment.

We have an irresponsible, incompetent and unrepentant President. THAT's the story, you decadent whores!

18. Do you have a url for the hosts of this show, or email?
That might help folks defend our candidates.

If it isn't clear, at this point, any attack against Dean, Kerry, Edwards, Clarck or Kucinich which gets played over and over without a counterpoint is, in my mind, an attack against our guys. We can't play on their terms guys, we have to place them on our field.

Please hold firm General Clark. George W. Bush WAS AWOL. Don't deny the fact and give the righwing forces that be another reason to excuse this selected resident's crimes.

A couple of phone calls will give him the full story. If he doesn't know already. I'm rooting for him to toss the grenade back in their laps.
