Just Heard Dean's Iowa Speech for the first time
I dunno - I thought it was great! The raw passion - I like seeing that! I'm a Clark supporter, but I think it's great to see that kind of passion in a candidate. Give me Dean's 'yeargh!' anyday over the drab speeches of some.

I can't see how this was misconstrued as a bad thing....

1. Cheers! I agree.
Of course, I am a Dean supporter. Though Clark is my second choice.

No fooling.

Hey, whacha drinking tonight?

2. It did seem incongruous, though, with Dean coming in third
in a state he was supposed to win.

5. yes...but in all honesty
I think the polls were skewed for a while. And I also think it's a lot harder to predict a caucus than a primary.

3. Contrast that with Lieberman talking at any time.
He's a decent guy, but man, listening to Joe Lieberman talk is the audio equivalent of Sominex.

The Dean speech in Iowa is getting WAY overblown. It was raw passion...plus motivating his supporters for New Hampshire.

4. It's like Hilary's comment about choclate chip cookies...
...the actual quote was very long and she talked about the many choices women have, but the filty, low-lying scum media just cut into it and just that part of it makes her look like a bitch.

Anyway, I think the media overkill with this can only help Dean. They're showing it non-stop, and people just turn off to that aftera while and wonder what's up.

6. much ado about nothing
My husband was tied up in meetings all week and missed the speech but he heard about it on the media. So when he got home, he asked me what the big deal was. Is showed him a tape and he was dumbfounded--completely puzzled over why anyone would think this merited as much attention as it received.

7. Plain media character assasination
Remember what they did to Gore. They are doing the same thing this time around too.

8. Yes, absolutely
More attributable to herd instinct and the media reverberation chamber than to conspiracy, though. And no candidate is immune to it.

It's good to share all the facts ! :bounce:

10. I agree it was pure passion, imo
Makes me proud to be a Dean supporter. He gets my vote anyday. Still undecided on who will be my second choice.

12. What is wrong with pure passion?
I don't understand the media labeling him "angry" like it's a bad thing. We have a lot to be angry about!!! We are trying to take back the U.S.

11. Niether could I.
It never was anything more than overblown media hype. In the near term Dean will start to profit from it. The hype has done nothing but cut into the dominating coverage "Comeback Kerry" should have received this week from his large victory in IA.

In the very near term it will probably start doing Dean some good.

The media shot themselves in the foot on this one.

13. Go Dean
It has switched more than a few undecideds to the Dean Camp.

The people contacting me are saying things like:

Thank God, a real person not just a bobbing wooden head, what can I do?

15. Makes me feel good
That I am finally hearing some folks wake up to this. I must've seen it played a hundred times, and the characterization is one only a moron could believe.

Now for the other 250 million who have been corrupted by the media!

I've written about 30 letters to New Hampshire, and South Carolina in the last few days, showing a little Dean wisdom.

I think it is a David vs. Goliath story, Internet vs. Mass media. David (Dean) is getting his rumpus racked.

16. Don't worry, they'll get to Clark soon
I think we are already seeing the media change the subject from "Dean's Scream Oh My Gosh He's Crazy And Certainly Not Presidential" to "Why Didn't Clark Distance Himself From Micheal Moore And Defend Our Heroic President"

18. Labeling Dean "Not Presidential" is a compliment
if the comparison is Bush.*

Here's the real irony. Rhinestone cowboy just off newly-created "ranch" polished off in the fall of 2000 for presidential publicity stunts installed in office; starts illegal, immoral war, tanks economy, institutes right-wing agenda SO FAR RIGHT no one questions it's gotta be pure WRONG. Media fawns.

Straight-shooting doctor type criticises rhinestone cowboy and inadvertently yells during impassionate concession speech following defeat in Iowa caucus. Media crucifies.

When the media labels Dean as Not Presidential, he should say thank you, if the comparison is Bush.*

19. Check out the thread, "Here's what we heard " (?) in this forum..
That'll really give you a sense of what REALLY happened that night. The media sound for the event was obviously pulled off of the sound board.. because it's nothing like what really happened.

This was created to make Dean look bad. It's backfiring. Reasonable people see the speech for what it was. The difference between what the real situation was, and how it was portrayed is almost criminal.
