Theory: a hotly contested primary is a good thing for Dems
My husband's theory on the matter, actually. He believes that the hotly contested primary, with no clear frontrunner, keeps the media spotlight on the Democratic Party and keeps the Bushies off-balance. Both are good things. What do you think.

1. It will be a nailbiting experience
but I agree with your husband with one proviso: the candidates avoid heavy attack campaigning. I think having several strong voices getting media attention slamming Bush is a wonderful thing -- if it lasts until the final primaries -- GOOD.

If the outcome is uncertain for that length of time, I do think it keeps the Rove attack machine distracted and that also can't be bad.

But, who knows?

3. Agree
Especially now. Notice how the media is scrambling to find things to spin about Kerry and Edwards? The key thing for all the Dem candidates to do is to keep hitting Bush, and hitting him hard. Bring up the AWOL stuff. Bring up the gutting of environmental regulations. And, most important of all, bring up the fact that this enormous debt is a national security issue. A lot of foreign countries hold the bonds, etc, that keep our country afloat. A huge deficit makes us vulnerable to economic blackmail, and could cause serious problems if we need to make big expenditures because of another attack. Bush's reckless tax cuts have threatened national security. Keep saying this-I tell it to Republicans, and you should see their faces-not angry at me, but very, very thoughtful.

4. Every slam at another democratic candidate
helps the shrub and every day we're not focusing on his failed and criminal misadministration is a free pass for him.

5. They Won't Know Who to RFK if there is no Frontrunner until the Convention
What happens if they RFK the Democratic nominee?
Would the candidate who came in second become the nominee?
Would the Democrats have to hold another nominating convention?
