Kucinich discusses BBV
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 09:22 AM by AnAmerican
Democracy today is at risk by the very instrument which seeks to uphold it. Electronic voting machines with meager security and significant technical flaws threaten to undermine our voting rights and thus the reliability of the election process. Without federal review and software testing, these voting machines are being marketed by companies and bought by states at an alarming rate. We cannot wait for Congress to pass legislation to address this danger. We, the people, must take action NOW to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the upcoming 2004 election!

I, Dennis Kucinich, have created this website to educate the American public about the dangers of current electronic voting machines, and to empower and enable individuals to take preventive action in their communities by taking inventory of their local County Election Board's voting equipment.

As citizens of the United States of America, we are fortunate to have a voting system that is designed to uphold democracy as the bedrock of our society. Although not flawless, this system serves to deliver our political representatives through a process aimed at creating a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. This type of government is essential to our democracy and, for the sake of the public interest, it must be preserved."

1. It's UP! YAY!!
I've been absolutely dying to see these pages go up! He talked about this on that People's Voice program, and discussed how he wanted to help voters know what steps to take to protect their own votes.

Man if that's not personal responsibility I don't know what is.

4. you see how much interest there is
Dennis could say "The sky is blue" and people would rather hear Kerry's opinion on the subject.

6. What I've noticed is
perpetual doom and gloom about ALL the candidates which to me is kind of pathetic.

If we all went by the behavior at DU, not a damned one of them is "electable"! This isn't new, Ter. People resist change, and even worse, they resist truth when they've been spoonfed lies forever. Change is frightening. Why do you think so many here keep saying "you can't do things overnight!" all the time? Because to even consider doing something immediately is scary as hell. Think about how long it takes most people to decide to relocate, or change jobs even without having tried to start a career, people complain about their schools but don't switch because it's too hard, too scary, too uncertain.

I say the hell with it, the plane is gonna crash, and I'm taking my chances with the Parachute. Who's with me?

10. I've never said I was going to support someone besides Dennis
I will say (as you may have noticed) that my outlook is entirely negative

I spent a year protesting a manufactured war and they did it anyway. I don't have a lot of hope for truth and repsonsibility.

12. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply your
decision had changed. You're awfully upset about the Edwards deal, though, so I wasn't sure what your thoughts were.

I understand your negative view. Way more than I wish I did. I just can't let myself swing that way again or I'll give up. I can't give up, too many people counting on me, including Dennis Kucinich and thousands of other people who don't even know they're counting on me.

I have to speak to the local Democratic Club about Kucinich on Tuesday night. I'm scared to death because I don't do well when I try to do public speaking- BUT this time I think I'll knock their socks off. Because I refuse to submit to the propaganda war and the blissful ignorance, and the just plain FEAR that I'm surrounded with. I can't afford to submit to it. If I do it'll kill me.

13. Just got home so I am glad
this hasn't slipped off page one yet. Big old kick for DK. What a guy. Considering the state of DU at the moment, I think I will go look at his pages then come back later.

14. This is great!
I just looked at it and it looks really helpful. My husband and I have tried everything we know and we can't get even a response from our Republican Sec of State, I even have a friend who works for him and he will not be considerate enough to even respond that he got the info. Perhaps this will help? Thanks for this, and another kick since it apparently looks like it will go without many non DKers seeing it.

16. First the Diebold documents, now this
Dennis Kucinich is once again leading the pack on the important issues facing Democrats.

And doing so by rejecting the FEAR and pessimism that permeates most of the other campaigns.

WAY TO GO DK!!!
