Jennings tells Clark that Moore's charges are unfounded
but, as in most cases, the mainstream press is derelict in its duty to pursue the truth. Bush gets a free ride, the truth is not important.
From the Boston Globe, via Moore's page:

After the election, Bush returned to Houston. But seven months later, in May 1973, his two superior officers at Ellington Air Force Base could not perform his annual evaluation covering the year from May 1, 1972 to April 30, 1973 because, they wrote, ''Lt. Bush has not been observed at this unit during the period of this report.''

1. Revolting. Thank goodness for the Internet.
I keep trying to watch CNN and MSNBC but it's so hard to tolerate the lies and spin. I usually last about 5 minutes, then turn the boob tube off.

Jennings says the charges are not supported by the facts. What ARE the facts, Mr. Jennings? I believe that is your job.

That's what I was thinking, also.

4. I would have loved to see..
Clark turn that one around on Jenning's in such a way. "You're the reporter, maybe you can tell me the facts and why it is that so many people, including formere verterans, make this statement?" Or something like that.

I like Clark, but I wish he would be less scripted in the debates. He seems good enough on the stump and "scary smart" enough to make a quick reply.. so why doesn't he? Nerves? Playing it safe?

5. He seems to be pulling his punches right now
has not attacked his rivals, but I think he has it in him to go after Bush once the primaries are over, but being mild and businesslike might not get him that far. I just wish the AWOL thing could be front page news again for a few days. The best defense is the truth, which is that Bush was just going through the motions of serving, and not doing much of that, then using friends in hight places to sweep it under he carpet, and a derelict media to look the other way.
