How many Zells do we have in the party? |
|
Zell Miller isn't the only right wing hater we have in the party and I have a serious question:
What does the party expect us to do when Zell Miller or a Zell Miller clone is the Democratic candidate?
If we actually SUPPORT THEM, then they stay in office, but if we don't, we get a Repuke!
What to do?

1. Its a no win situation since he is really a republican |
|
best thing to do is rally support for a real democrat, if you don't you get 2 republicans on one ticket. When Alan Colmes asked him what issues he agrees with the democrats on he couldn't give one.

we're a big tent party. at the end of the day, it's better to have a looser coalition with a majority party than have a bunch of die-hards with 30 senators.

15. Look, JFK cut taxes, and engaged in unilateral military actions |
|
against the Soviet Union.
But he pushed the New Frontier.
Reagan stole that base. We need to get it back to win.

i mean, in Georgia, we need to run like we're running in georgia.
but that doesn't mean we betray our values or our core beliefs as a national party.
we need to make sure people understand we're pro-privacy rights, not pro-abortion.
we need to make sure people understand we're about growing the economy and looking out for all americans, not bigger government.
we need to be forceful and direct. we cannot back away from what we believe. but we have to talk about what we believe the right way.
and we're going to do that and we're going to do it damn well.

holding my nose and volunteering for his primary challenger. but, yes, i vote for the guy with the (D) after his name. The most important thing is getting dems in power so that we control the agenda. then we can talk on our terms, and do the most good for the people that matter, not for the rich and big business.

I don't know if I could do that.
I want Dems in control but if they aren't really Dems, I don't know, it's like I'm voting for the wrong side. Gives me the creeps.
I'll think about it but not while I eat.

3. At each stage, vote for the best/better candidate. |
|
Edited on Mon May-23-05 01:46 PM by leyton
In the primary, vote for the one you want in office.
In the general election, vote for the guy you want in office. This guy may or may not be same guy you voted for in the primary, but presumably he won the primary (unless he was the only guy to make it to the primary).
And there are always third party candidates. I myself would be extremely reluctant to vote for a third party candidate, unless I simply could not stomach the Democratic nominee or the Republican nominee.

But if we support Zell, we're gonna KEEP Zell!
Isn't there some kind of, I don't know, some kind of internal party recall system? Some way that we can contact our party about DINOs?
I want to help Democrat candidates, but I WILL NOT EVER help Zellions.

17. I guess I would never vote for a Zell. |
|
If it had come down to a Zell and a Republican, that would be the time when I'd vote for a third-party candidate.
Internal party recall - I wish. I think primary challenges are really the best way to go. Unfortunately four or six years is a long time. The good thing is that with campaign seasons starting as early as they do, you can hold someone's feet to the fire a year and a half out from the election and threaten to hurt their support among party activists who are paying attention and could throw money and support to a challenger in the primary.

worse than I do Repukes. At least the Repukes are honest about their evilness.
I guess what I'm asking, is the national party telling us to support the Zellions in our party?
What is the stance? I mean, the Repukes wouldn't take that KKK guy a few years ago, Duke.
We gotta have SOME way to do the same thing with Zellions in our party.

Do we have anything like that?

16. the reason to vote for Zell Miller |
|
and other DINO's even if you don't agree with their politics is that the "D" next to their name works toward gaining majority control of the Congress, without which the more liberal Senators from other states have no chance of getting legislation even heard, much less passed.
