Why do we have to wrap the nomination process quickly? |
|
The "powers that be" would like to get an early nominee meaning, I think, to have the clear winner after Feb 3, or so.
This would mean that voters of only a handful of states will decide on who the nominee is. I don't think that this is appropriate. I will be happy with any of them: Edwards, Kerry, Clark, Lieberman.. but we should feel better if we can get as many votes behind him (yes, him, at this stage) as we can. This will ensure that as many Democrats as we can will cast their vote in November.
What do you think?

And we should try to keep as many targets out there for them as possible until the convention.

Keep the opposition guessing. Make them use as much energy (and money) as possible going after moving targets.

2. My instinct tells me that this nomination |
|
will not be wrapped up until after March/April. This is a wild and rocky ride, and I love it and hate it all at the same time.
There was none of this heartfelt debate about Dems during the 2000 presidential cycle.
I love all of you, so passionate, so thoughtful and so supportive of your candidate.
What a great grassroots group we will be for the GE.....I think in all of the years I have been smitten with politics I have never seen this much interest. Of course, we have so much at stake.
We will all meet up at the pass in July and ride into the GE fighting for whoever the candidate is.
Hugs to all!!!!!!!!!

4. The idea is to have a message early. |
|
And to focus all of the party's guns on Bush/Republicans in unison. Of course, it's unfair to later states; heck, I am not even sure NY (my home state) will even make a difference.

I'm getting antsy. I don't really care if the primaries get to my state, all I care about is November.

5. Decide it at the convention |
|
The conventions are hardly being covered because everything is decided beforehand. I hope the nomination goes down to the wire and a lot of the canidates have delegates and there's interesting platform debate. Keep the democrats on the news, showing them working through differences and keep the attacks spread out.

6. Agree. This makes it more interesting |
|
and builds suspense.
For some reason, one events sticks in my memory and it was about the Republican convention in 1980. Reagan was the nominee but no one knew who would be his V.P. And it was in the convention that CBS Leslie Stahl broke the news: It is Bush!
Dean recently said that he admired papa Bush for the way he handled the first Gulf War. I admire him for his 1980 Voodoo Economics..
