Absentee Ballot's For Clark on Feb 3rd will put him in first?
I have a question. According to our records from calling people who requested absentee ballots here in New Mexico Clark is getting over 50% of the vote. What percentage of people usually vote absentee? And what are the rules in Arizona, Oklahoma, and South Carolina? Here in New Mexico most people have already sent theirs in two weeks ago. This should help Clark tremendously because Iowa had not even happened yet buy the time most of the absentee ballots were cast here.

1. Hey I'm a new guy so cant post
But I would like to start a nationwide campaign to have the democrats all request absentee ballots. This would subvert the BBV problem and provide a paper trail. It would also require the states to spend a lot more money on voting thus encouraging them to provide a paper trail on the machines. Just a small idea to help save democracy. If you think it has merit please post the idea and let's get the ball rolling.

4. Great Idea
As far as Absentee Ballots And who uses them:
Military personel, Their spouses, Americans Working or traveling in the country or out of the USA. Students in college, people that have scheduled surgery or in hospitals, and cant get to the voting booth. There are other reasons for requesting an absentee ballot, you can find out from your supervisor of elections in your state. That is also where you can request an application if you need one.
Please note that they are using an experiment to let these people vote electronically in some of the primaries and might use it for the general election. So far I dont think that is a good idea with all the problems and no paper trail

2. I've heard Clark is doing well in NM. Entire Southwest, actually.
I mean, if he can place third in NH, well out of his neighborhood, it stands to reason that he'd do well in the southwest and south, which are closer to home.

3. I think Clark will do well
in the Texas primary. We have numerous military bases and retired military here. I think alot of Texans identify with him, his nonpolitical career choices, and his approach to issues.

Democrats question accuracy of voter registration lists
Last Update: 01/24/2004 9:39:06 AM
(Santa Fe-AP) --
New Mexico Democrats who were denied absentee ballots for the upcoming Democratic presidential caucus are calling the state for help. Denise Lamb, director of the state Bureau of Elections, says her office has received about 100 such calls a daily recently.

The state Democratic Party is handling the caucus and is issuing the absentee ballots. The deadline for returning the ballots for the February 3 caucus is Monday. A spokeswoman for the state Howard Dean presidential campaign says the state party told their camp that 500 people across the state have been denied absentee ballots.

State Democratic Chairwoman Joni Gutierrez says she wasn’t aware of any widespread problems. She says Democrats whose names don’t appear on voter lists can still vote at the caucus sites if they bring proof of registration.
