As The Empire Crumbles Who Gets Left Behind? |
|
As Bush's political capital account drops to zero which group was left with the most promises gone unfulfilled? The Christian Right, that's who. This amuses me a great deal.
They elected him and they are the only ones who won't be seeing a payoff.

...not the only ones, but definitely the ones with the smallest ratio of promises made and fulfilled.
But I don't know how much that amuses me, because those whackos are so fired up thanks to all the GOPers stirring their indignation, that energy won't just dissipate. They'll take shit into their own hands, some way or another.

All of their self-righteous talk, telling us how horrible we are because we don't believe the way they do. They push bigotry and a culture of life that is essentially a culture of death and they profess "conservative" values and deride anybody who votes Democrat and have broken their end of their bargain of being tax-exempt. Tough shit. Maybe now they will learn that they will not find spiritual fulfillment through Bush, Robertson, Frist, DeLay, Dobson, Falwell etc.

3. If that is true, expect to see some pretty radical behavior from |
|
these messianic types. People who are on a mission or who have been led to believe that their political leaders are on the same mission can get pretty squirrely when things don't fall in place like it was ordained to be. Hopefully this exposes them for the fringe elements they are.

7. Ahhh, but they got their 'godly man' into office |
|
You know, the fellow who comes around and caters to them, and tells them black is white. Funny how he never explains exactly what he's selling, and that he wants the contracts signed in blood. Plus, that wierd sulfurous odor when he leaves....
From Bush's p.o.v. he's the Wizard of Oz among the Munchkins.

8. You are sadly mistaken - they have received HUGE payoffs |
|
Take a look as Ester Kaplan's book "With God on Their Side".
It documents the massive, comprehensive, systemic changes which have been made from the most minute to the most gigantic policies to make them conform to the will of the Christian Right.
Things like FORCING the National Park bookstore at the Grand Canyon to stock books on Creationism, and books that state the world is only about 6,000 years old. Things like FORCING the National Institutes of Health to remove references to using condoms in STD prevention literature and instead promote abstinence. Seriously. Things like FORCING epidemiologists and public health officials to NOT promote condom use among homosexuals as that could be construed as "supporting" homosexuality. This is a TINY sliver of the items that are documented in Kaplan's book. It will open your eyes, and you will be shocked at the extent of the programs Bush has enacted to promote the Christian Rights agenda.
After reading that book, I no longer subscribe to the theory that Bush just "uses" Christianity to get more votes. I am convinced that HE REALLY BELIEVES it, and is doing everything in his power to turn the United States into a Christian Theocracy.

9. But they haven't got the big banana yet |

A SCOTUS that will overturn Roe, put teacher-led prayer in schools and take Darwin out of the science curriculum, allow them prosecute "sodomites" and agree with them that the US is and always has been a "Christian nation."

10. I don't think he cares at all about "Christianity". |
|
I don't think he cares about abortion or homosexuality or any of those so-called "moral values". It's mere pandering to the "faithful" so they will follow blindly along like the witless sheep that they are. Their support is easy to get. Ours is not. We are the "problem" that must be "contained".
