HOW DO YOU DEPROGRAM BUSH CULTISTS?????? |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 12:41 PM by Pryderi
I post on other boards, and I get ppl saying,
"Nothing new here, little buddy.
Bush reported ambiguous data in a way to support his policy. Every politician in the history of mankind has done this. I know that you would give your left nut to catch Bush in a lie, but you're just not doing it."
and
"OMFG THIS IS THE FIRST TIME EVER THAT PROPAGANDA HAS BEEN USED TO INCREASE POPULAR SUPPORT FOR A WAR
THE FIRST TIME EVER
PROPAGANDA HAS NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE
OMFG BUSH INVENTED PROPAGANDA
WHAT IS PROPAGANDA
OH JESUS OUR NATION'S CORE VALUES ARE AT STAKE
BUSH HAS SACRIFICED OUR NATION'S CHARACTER ON THE ALTAR OF PROPAGANDA
AT NO POINT IN OUR HISTORY HAS A LEADER EVEN THOUGHT OF USING PROPAGANDA
IMPEACH BUSH
HE USED PROPAGANDA"

5. ie Bush lied but it doesnt bother me... |
|
that's what the poster is saying.
Bush represents the core values that I believe in ... that he will not let minorities use big government to get over on the rest of us. Bush is strong. I respect strength (as long as I dont have to do the fighting). I am willing to suffer as long as Bush protects my core values. As long as my values are defended, I will put up with a few (minor) lies.

9. I'm honestly not sure if it's possible. |
|
On the other hand, Viktor Frankl has some optimistic thoughts about this. Sort of:
"A moral conflict, a conflict of conscience, can lead to an existential neurosis. And as long as a man is capable of conflict of conscience, he will be immune to fanaticism and to collective neurosis in general; conversely, a man who suffers from collective neurosis will overcome it if he is enabled once more to hear the voice of conscience and to suffer from it. Existential neurosis will then cure the collective neurosis!"*
That is precisely what we are seeing here. A collective neurosis exhibiting the symptoms of a fatalistic attitude towards life, collective thinking and fanaticism.
"The collectivist ignores his own personality, the fanatic ignores that of the other man, the man who thinks differently. Only his own opinion is valid. In reality, his opinions are those of the group and he does not really have them; his opinions have him."*
Basically, when confronted with Bush Cultists I've flat out called them on their blindness and told them I refused to buy in to their crass, limited and dangerous cult of personality. I've told them I am extremely disappointed in their willingness to ignore facts in favor of abdicating freedom for security. Discussion over.

A wolf in sheep's clothing! In their eyes, religion will trump Bush anyday. Get the two to contradict each other. That may start them to at least think about Bush's actions.

15. A truthful media would help. My observation--- |
|
I have recently discovered something that I find is fairly well confined to conservatives. They think they know. They think they have the world in a formula. I am no more repulsed by a person than those who are this way. It is the absence of humility. And I'm affraid it is genetic. I don't know. If the world population weren't the overriding and driving function, I'd have that last statement as my sig line. I don't know. Not knowing pulls the rug out from under all agendas. It kills arrogance. It fuels humility. It provides a platform for observation and empathy.
I've never seen so many people do what is in their worst interest, and smile about it. Fools.

a caller called in. He had David Griffin's book and he let some of his rightwinger friends read it. How did he do that? Well according to him they were going to read it for laughs since they thought it was all "consperiacy" and all that. They didn't go into it thinking it was anything searious and worth while. According to this guy it definitley changed them and what they thought of Bush. It's worth a try.

a) the scale of the propaganda b) and more to the point the fact that internet access has increased exponentially in the last five years meaning that there's a huge global audience that can see through the propaganda.

they're not going to realize it untilt hey get screwed too.
it's like people who have newly fallen in love with the worst partner on earth. you can talk til your blue in the face, and they're still going to keep seeing the worst partner on earth, and dig their heels in further about how is Mr/Ms. Worst Partner on Earth is really and truly Mr./Ms. Right.
they'll learn in their own sweet time. or perhaps they'll live in denial forever.
all you can do is keep putting the truth in their face. some will come around, soem won't. it's a thankless job.

They're not worth your time and trouble. If someone who makes less than $100,000 is so fucking stupid that they drive around with one of those fucking W04 Mark of the Beast stickers on their car and vote against their own goddamn self interests and those of their family then all I can say is fuck them! They don't have the brains to respond to logic or intelligent discourse. You might as well whack them on the head with a shovel as try to reason with them. They are stupid, brainless, demented human garbage. You'd be better off trying to teach differential calculus to a dog as wasting your breath on these goddamn bushbot morons. Fuck 'em!
