11. I saw part of it and I hate to say this, but I like him a LOT better......
before he started campaigning for his wife. He can't say ONE BAD thing about Bush without framing it in a lighter note. This really pisses me off because he KNOWS what is going on and just goes along his merry little way, not fighting against the Bushes. I know why he is doing this, so that he doesn't piss off any possible hillary supporters, but for God's Sake Bill!!!

13. Enough Bush-Bashing
The Democrats have had almost 6 years to tear into Bush, and it's just not working. Even the Republicans admit that we'd probably win if we tried harder. What we need to talk about isn't how bad Bush is, or how he lies. People made it abundantly clear that they don't care about that last november. What we need to do is not say why they're bad, but say why we're better. And we need to do it as often and as publically as possible.

17. Really? I'd say the corporate media doesn't ALLOW the truth about Bush to
be heard. They edit out any critique of Bush that explains his FAILURES, LIES and CRIMES.

You must be watching a different media than the rest of us.

Where did YOU hear that Bush refused to read the Hart-Rudman Report on Global Terror that was handed to him on Jan 30, 2001?

Where did YOU hear that while Kerry was investigating and exposing terrorist banks, George Bush was making multi-million dollar deals with them?

18. Media isn't the problem.
The media does some serious editorializing, but that doesn't change my point. We've been ripping into Bush for 6 years. He likes cocaine. He's dangerously nearsighted. He planned the war since he was elected. He let 9/11 happen.

All true, but guess what: 59 million people heard all that and still voted for him.

There are two choices, convert 10 million of those, or find 10 million other voters. Either way, we can't do it by simply pointing out what's wrong with him. If we just say "he's bad," no one seems to make the connection that "we're better."

Democrats need to be focusing on themselves, on their message, and on winning national arguments, like stem cell research, abortion, civil rights, etc. It's all too obvious that we can't win by complaining about Bush. And I don't know about you, but I'd rather win than whine.

19. Yes, let's just keep being "nice" Democrats. It's worked so well, so far.
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 03:26 PM by flpoljunkie
The Democratic leaders do not speak up, for the most part--but when they do, as Harry Reid has done and continues to do, it rallies he base--without which, a party cannot win.

Speaking up for Democratic values is not "whining."

24. Let's keep bashing Bush, that's worked!
Six years of tearing into Bush, and what has it gotten us? He went from losing the popular vote to a pretty solid mandate.

When Harry Reid speaks like that, he may rally the base, but he alienates people in the middle. We had a rallied base last November. Did it work?

We're not "speaking up for Democratic values," we're just complaining about Bush. We need to define and extol our Democratic values. I'd love to hear a Democrat give a speech in which he said why people should vote for him, instead of why they shouldn't vote for the Republican.

26. You miss the point. No one has noticed that we bash Bush. It's the media
that has remained lapdogs and water carriers for our "Emperor with No Clothes."

Harry Reid has begun bashing Bush, and it has excited the base. It is the leaders of our party who must speak out if we hope to get the media's attention. They do a very effective job of dismissing the base--remember how they ignored all the anti-war protests.

You can't win in this country with just your base. You need to win over those undecideds and "moderates."

35. So YOU think Bush won WITHOUT media protection and vote fraud.
You think the media let Kerry be heard and honestly. There is no need to concern ourselves with the media or the voting machines.

Sorry, pal, but you can nominate FourStarGeneralJesusChrist and between the media and the voting machines he'll become a treasonous coward devoid of values who loses in a landslide.

25. When we don't even have a message
to be on, what do you expect them to do? The media certainly doesn't help, but we have a choice, to complain about the media, or to make a strong statement and cut out the bull that they keep reporting.

29. Kerry's message of a stronger nation based in good governance
and a strong, environmentally concious economy with better access to healthcare for all was a great one.

The MEDIA FILTERED IT OUT in favor of Swift liars, bin Laden videos, gay marriage and horse race opinions.

That's three messages, not one unifying theme. It makes it easier to filter. Complaining about the media won't change it.

36. YOU are wrong. Ignore the media and the voting machines - GOP thanks you.
.

And there were ALOT of people who responded to Kerry's message when they were allowed to hear it.

YOU think at least 59 million votes is an embarrassment, but many of us know that it was about 10 million more votes than 2000 and that the voting machine "errors" all miraculously turned out to be in Bush's favor.

YOU didn't win three debates decisively, either. Kerry was always about strength and competence, and anyone with an iota of comprehension skills could see that.

33. You're absolutely right.
He does. He's a horrible president, a liar, anti-democratic and his political views are in direct opposition to the things that make this country great. Not to mention narrow-minded and a theocrat.

But, after six years of Bush-bashing, how are we doing? You can't argue with results.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for tearing into Republicans repeatedly and publically, but let's work on tidying up our own house, too.
