Poll question: Generic poll: Man v Woman
When faced with two candidates, and all other factors being equal for the sake of this poll, would you be more likely to vote for the man or the woman?

1. Interesting, that at this time their are 20 votes and not one response
to why you all voted for your choice.

7. You really got us women there
when men are out in the woods, they never have to worry about peeing on themselves. It's such a great concern that it completely erodes the self esteem of women and makes us useless, servile imbiciles.

On the other hand, every time I pee in the woods and fail to pee on myself, I feel a sense of triumph that men will never know. I have overcome the odds and come out ahead!

Girl Power!

Yeah!

25. I'm like the artist formerly known as Prince
My name is a symbol instead of some bourgois combination of letters or numbers.

My name, when written, looks like a giant, irregularly shaped puddle that has no set shape or size, so yes, yes I can write my name in the snow.

:-)

10. I do identify myself as a man in my profile
I for one, do not think and women are the same and should be treated as such. For example women are better at raising children than men are, it's in the biology. Men generally speaking deal better in competitive type endeavors. Doesn't mean that those roles can not be reversed and doesn't apply across the board.

Don't confuse that for saying man and women are not equal, just different, with different strengths and weaknesses, both important. People regardless of gender should have equal rights.

To answer the poll question is really pretty simple. If all things being truly equal, I would vote for the man based on the fact I identify more with a man than a women. I would vote for a women if I was a women for the same reason.

Just common sense.

Though peeing standing up does have it's advantages

and sounds like a lead in to "separate but equal."

"Though peeing standing up does have it's advantages"

"Generally speaking" women end up cleaning up the dribbles and spray when men miss the target.

:hi:

on edit: Oh yeah, my vote is:

#4 "I wouldn't vote in this poll"

11. As a man I find your post repulsive dragndust
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 08:39 PM by Berserker
You group ALL men into your post. I in all my years as a man have never thought for one minute that I am superior to a woman. That would be putting my Mother,Daughter and Grand Daughter down below me. That was very offensive. Do you hate men? The original post was about would you vote for a woman or a man. Well I would vote for the person I felt would best represent my beliefs and my country. It don't matter to me if they piss standing up or if they squat when they piss. Maybe you can start your own flame bait post else where.

5. Why vote at all if...
..."all other factors being equal" what's the point?

I woulden't vote for or against a gender for it's own sake. Hopefully "equal" in this case means two smart, democratic progressives. :)

6. Unless it was Hillary.
I just cannot support Hillary Clinton prior to the nomination.

Of course, I would enthusiastically vote for her if she was nominated. But I believe that she wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell.

I'd really like to see an African-American woman make a run. Too bad Shirley Chisholm is gone. Shirley Jackson Lee?

9. I love Barbara Lee.
She has quite a track record of "librulism". That's good. But what she's said on the record in the past may be a liability to her. The Repugs would never shut up about it.

Here's others... Shirley Jackson Lee, Cynthia McKinney, Kathleen Sibelius, Jennifer Granholm (the latter two are middle-of-the-road).

14. XX / XY
I believe that I'd prefer the right woman over an equally qualified man, because I honestly think that a woman would be less eager to plunge the country into a war. The current war in Iraq was and is unjustified, illogical, and intemperate. If a highly qualified woman was the head honcho of our adult leadership, I think she wouldn't let the cowboys gallop off into war like we did.

That said, I am still deeply worried that the country isn't ready for a Madam President, and I DON'T want to see the Democratic Party losing presidential elections. I know that a woman will become President someday, and I hope it's someday fairly soon. But, I don't think Hillary Clinton will be able to be that pioneer lady. She energizes THEIR base more than ours, and she's got no legs in Red States and most battleground states. I think she's a Michael Dukakis waiting to happen.

I cannot think about Barbara Jordan without thinking about what could have been possible if her health had not betrayed her. She was capable of rising to the level of Lincoln, Kennedy or Churchill. She had the intellect, the gravitas, the drive, and, most importantly, the moral compass. *sigh*

Someday, a great lady will come forward.

...I did really like Carol Moseley Brown and Dennis Kucinich in the primaries...I would have liked to seen both of them in the White House. Both intelligent peacemakers...but that is the past and now we must move on and I am afraid we must elect whomever democrat we can manage to get in next time...
