HEY! Where's your DNC money going? Do you know?

If not, take a look:
http://www.democrats.org/specialreports/50states/index.html

I just got finished reading the North Carolina report first and I'm PSYCHED!! Almost ready to move there psyched.

There are a couple of threads goin' right now about Dean and the DNC and raising money and all, and that link was posted in one of them. It is so fabulous to get information about what's happening with the party, within the DNC organization itself, etc. But then Dean always did excel at communicating with the troops -- TWO WAY communication at that.

Have a look. And then see if maybe you can't help push "the bat" up over $500K.

1. Yes....I've posted about NC...but Meek is good. And Dean gave us
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 05:51 PM by KoKo01
$40,000 and we were one of the first to get money because the Dean/Nader/Kucinich folks have been so active in making changes here. It's not easy but we've gotten two bills for "Verified Paper Ballots" here in the NC House and Senate and we had folks who attended the District meetings last month who gave out literature and signed folks up. (BTW...the literature was produced by the Koko1 family at our own cost) so that Dean's money could go for better computers and more organization needed for '06. Not plugging here, but individual donations by those of us so committed and the time spent by volunteers FOR FREE means that this "Red State" is "out of the starting gate running."

I need to say that this is all "Grassroots Effort." Neither John Edwards (who ran for VP and was our Senator or Mike Easley, our Dem Govenor have been a help in our efforts.) We do this on our own with the great organization by volunteers who have been out there for years working below the radar and including many DU Members like our own NC Patriot "Who Counts the Votes" who has worked tirelessly on the website and connected many of us NC transplants to the "people in the know."

It was a fight to get Meek here in NC. But, it's the Dean/Kucinich/Nader folks who worked to do it.

There's much to be hopeful about, but we also still fight our own Democratic Party for the gains we are makeing.

Whenever I hear a criticism of Dean I try to remember that the Heirarchy of the Dem Party i.e. DLC is not happy about these new "interlopers" showing up on their turf and making them work their butts off to answer questions about WHY NC has so many counties with Unverified Voter Paper Trails. When folks start asking questions the stonewalling begins. But, at least for now, NC is NOT South Carolina or Georgia where I fear we have lost the cause because of the embedded reactionary Bushites.

6. Until someone with more knowledge answers, here's one idea
find out your local Democracy for America group(s). They're the ones which grew out of the Dean campaign. I think they're part of who KoKo was referring to in her post re the Dean/Nader/Kucinich people.

7. Here here!
I enjoyed the thread and I'm excited about the work y'all are doing up there. A little dissappointed not to see Louisiana on that list yet, but I guess we'll get covered somehow if they're going to work all 50 states. We're used to being ignored. No help. We do pretty much everything on our own too.

Here's what we're working on now ---> www.beaucoupblues.com

8. All of us out there working "mostly in silence" deserve applause that we
aren't looking for but being so tired of it a little applause would be good. I know that folks are working tirelessly ...Eloriel and others who are no longer here on DU in Georgia, some DU'ers in SC and thank you for Lousiana.

It's awful, tiresome work. I wonder if it's worth it...but if we don't make a start who will? Eventually "fresh troops" will come in. They might not remember who opened the doors for them...but I believe you try to do good whether you are recognized down the road for what you did or not.

It would be good to be recognized or get a pat on the back...but never happens...but we folks here should congratulate each other ...especially when many of us could use that "pat on the back" to keep going...when many times we are just so discouraged and overwhelmed it seems like we should just get the hell out and go re-fi our houses and head to the beach or mountains mortgaging it all for the "good life."

For some of us "Taking Back our Country" will be more of a "good life" than money can buy...because the "Money" already bought America...we hope that those who are left after us will still understand what we all thought was the promise for our ancestors. It may only matter to a few...but to those few it's everything.
