Morford on "Bush, the spoiled man-child"- brilliant
Know what great leaders, great nations, do at times of war and fracture and massive bludgeoning debt? All of the above, all the time, with great intelligence and humility and grace and awareness and shared humanity. Or they die. But not BushCo.

<<snip>>

Here it is, another bumbling, barely articulate press conference by Dubya, one of the few he ever gives because he clearly hates the things and is deeply troubled by them, hates reporters who ask complicated questions and hates people who dare doubt his simple mind-set, his effectiveness, his policies, his lopsided myopic one-way black/white good/evil worldview.

Bush hates press conferences because he can't speak extemporaneously and can't form a complete sentence without mashing up the language like a 5-year-old on Ritalin and can't express a nuanced multifaceted idea to save his life and somewhere deep down in his bowels, he knows it, and he knows we know it, and it makes him mumble and stutter and secretly pray every moment to his angry righteous God he could be somewhere else, anywhere else, like sittin' on the back porch in Texas eatin' ribs and dreamin' 'bout baseball. Ahhh, there now. That's better

1. This article reinforces what we already have known for years
If only the sheeple could read and comprehend, maybe this story could make a dent in their little minds.

2. thank you for posting.
it is always such a great pleasure to read what you already know about W., what others are trying to hide, his MOMMY, his POPPY, his BUBBA, and everyone else in the meanstream media ... it is so great to know that there are great souls out there who know, who are willing to speak the truth clearly and without apparent fear of repression... it is like being invited to a poetry reading by a great poet...to the inner circle of truth...it is good for the soul.

14. Oh, man, you put that beautifully - I know EXACTLY how that feels.
Knowing that somebody else shares your view. Especially when "your" view - "your" is being used generically here, as a "you (understood)", not you personally - of bush is extremely low.

It's certainly amazing to me when I read assessments of bush that could easily have come from my own rantings. Gad! Somebody else feels the same way I do about him. If I am indeed part of some "fringe" group, it must be an awfully large group. I keep meeting more and more members...

What it tells you is that some of this stuff is seeping in, deeply. Ordinarily, it's presumed that if feelings like this are actually BEING VOICED openly, in public, in print or on the air, and not just from guys like Morford but elsewhere also, you know many more people are THINKING it. It's sort of a representative metaphor. The very boldness of doing so is another key - maybe an increasing number of people are actually showing an inclination to stand up to these felons. More people bold enough to defy the "aura of invincibility" these guys have are actually starting to come forward. And with more frequency. And more vehemence. That, in and of itself, is telling.

And it IS like poetry. It feeds the heart, which has been sorely battered lately. It's hard to have to look at the flag at some Memorial Day observance again this year and feel bitterly mixed feelings - and of an even greater magnitude this year than ever before.

7. Comparing W's language skills to a 5-year-old on Ritalin...
...is an insult to the 5-year-olds!

11. Hey, I remember that dog from the campaign. Sigh....
It's so awful that we lost, I had some good times during that campaign. Concerts for Change, Al Franken appearances, fund raisers, MoveOn events....
all so we could get this insult to five year olds. :(

9. So true, and so sad.
"...George W. Bush would make a great small-town mayor, somewhere deep in a dusty, forgotten part of Texas. His brand of personable, aww-shucks, none-too-bright simpleton talk is perfect for small town. It really is.

But for a major world power caught in the throes of a desperate need to change and grow and evolve, he is, of course, absolute death."

that is so small minded, inarticulate, arrogant and sociopathic. If I were to venture outside of Amerika I would wear a button that has his stupid face on it with and X on that dumbasss face.

13. That's not what it says on the site...
"Bush hates press conferences because can't speak extemporaneously and can't form a complete sentence without mashing up the language like a five-year-old and can't express a complex idea to save his life and somewhere deep down, he knows it, and he knows we know it, and it makes him mumble and stutter and wish he could be somewhere else, anywhere else, like sittin' on the back porch in Texas eatin' ribs and dreamin' 'bout baseball. Ahhh, there now. That's better."

and...

"Bush is, to be sure and in a word, unyielding. Determined. Immovable. Also, deeply confused. Myopic as hell. Frighteningly narrow minded. Weirdly random. Childish in a way that would make any good parent seriously question whether it might be time to get their child some Ritalin and an emetic."

This says it all! How I wish I could write like this and convey such a message as clearly as Morford does.
