return his medal and apologize for accepting it under fabricated circumstances - the SBVs were claiming that Kerry's medal was awarded in a way that never happened - and the guy who won the star was one of the witnesses claiming that it never happened the way Kerry stated it.

That would nullify his Bronze star, too. So he accepted a medal under false pretenses, too. Or get him in court to swear that his story is true.

Part of the problem with the %$#@!! SBVFT, "Al Gore claimed to have invented the Internet," etc., is that the media jump on the bandwagon and repeat everything the right wing proclaims until it becomes accepted. This allows the GOP and their allies to define the terms of the debate and worm their way into the public's consciousness. Kerry went from highly decorated veteran to someone with "controversial" service in Vietnam. :eyes: Why weren't we hearing constantly that John O'Neill was forever linked to the ultimate disgraced president, Nixon, as O'Neill was recruited to be a professional Kerry opponent?

There's a lot of work we need to do, both with the party and with the media, before we get to set the terms of the debate. Again, the press will repeat whatever the right wingers say. If Karl Rove (may God punish him) told the media to jump off the George Washington Bridge, we'd be fishing bodies out of the Hudson by dusk.
