The engineering of consent
"If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, it is now possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing it."

Edward Bernays

6. important stuff ...
wish the insights provided could have been a bit more tangible ... i mean, even if we share this same vision about an endless disinformation campaign being perpetrated upon us, what's our next move? what are the practical implications ...

still, it's a great discussion topic ... how do we know we know what we know?

my view on this, staying at an abstract level, is that too many of us are blinded by "facts" ... when you have a sense of some kind of gestalt, whether it is in reality a foolish distortion or not, you become far less vulnerable to the daily stream of disinformation ... of course, how you arrive at that gestalt is where the magic lies ...

7. It's the techniques that are important
This manipulation of group thought is a reverse engineering of Psychiatry, where instead of evoking the subconcious, behavior is patterned into the subconcious by finite and well tested techniques. Once the group is aware of the technique, it becomes much less effective.
We had been dicussing this subject in one form or the other for a while on various threads, but it took someone with professional training in the field of Psychiatry to see the origins and form the basis for further investigation.
