DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - While former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean complains about the incessant criticism he gets from rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, opponents of the front-runner argue he's not a bit shy about launching his own assaults.
``I think he's been lobbing attacks on the other Democrats in the race for about a year,'' said Rep. Dick Gephardt of Missouri. ``He only sees negative campaigning when it isn't him.''

Rival campaigns point to a direct-mail piece that landed in the homes of Iowa Democratic activists over the weekend.
``A good biography isn't enough,'' the piece argues. ``Dean is the only candidate motivating the Democratic base and who is electable in every region. Sen. (John) Kerry and Rep. Gephardt voted for the president's war in Iraq and for Bush's No Child Left Behind Act. Only a candidate who opposed the Iraq war can make the case as a Bush alternative - we can't win with Bush light.''
