Meeting Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA-3) tonight. Any messages to relay? |
|
Jim McGovern is the #2 Dem on the House Rules Committee (behind Louise Slaughter). He is a member of the progressive caucus, regularly manages floor debates, has a great voting record and is an all-around good guy.
He's having a social / fund raiser tonight.
Apend any questions/comments here and I'll try to get answers posted late tonight or tomorrow.

1. Tell the DEMS to STOP letting the Repugs STEAL elections!!! |
|
Dammit!
Ask him if the Repugs would EVER tolerate partisan Dems owning the machines, programing the software and tabulating the votes?!?!?!?!?!? And on top of that....having Dems fight against a paper trail!!!!
Does he think that for ONE NANO SECOND the Repugs would be worried about sounding like "conspiracy nuts" or "whiners"?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Jesus H. Christ, do we DESERVE to "lose" or what?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?

4. ask if he has any republican friends he could show DSM to? |
|
Can't find the Kos thread on 88 signers of Conyers letter, assuming McGovern already signed? If not, maybe ask him to publicly support Conyers' request? If so, maybe he has some new england mod-R friends who could be encouraged to look at the DSM... Just a thought...

He said, in referecne to the "radical right's" political agenda.
He also called for an end of "Bush's war" in Iraq, and mentioned that all the supporters in Congress should go there and fight themselves!
I sense that there are a growing number of Representatives who are ready to do anything and everything they can to slow down House proceedings in order to force "our" agenda. My own Rep (Meehan) is speaking at a exit strategy meeting this coming Sunday.
I thanked him for signing Rep. Conyers' letter to *, and told him the "official" count at 6PM was 110,000, but I suspected it to be higher.
Jim's a great guy, has my suppor for the #2 Senator from Massachusetts in 2008!
The place was rocking, loud and busy, I was not able to pass along anything on election reform, but if you PM me I will print and hand deliver next week.

6. Has he signed the John Conyers' letter? Is he a cosponsor? |

Plant the seed: Impeachment IS an option.
If he voted for the Iraq war, or he deals frequently with those who did, urge him maybe to use that ten-word sentence: "Because I TRUSTED my president, and he LIED to me." We need that seed planted, and it's a good face-saving move.
On the other hand, maybe by the time I've written this, you'll have already met with him.
Oh well, thanks for putting this out there anyway, and I eagerly await the results. Glad you're getting this opportunity. It's VERY important that he hears from people like you.
Urge him NOT to cave, because resistance is NOT futile! To show backbone. That it's noticed and deeply appreciated.
Cheers! :toast:
