Could Newsweek have been "Punk'd"? |
|
The Pentagon saw the article on the Qoran before publication, they said nothing. The guy who gave them the story had always been right in the past.
Is it possible that the Bushies and the Pentagon found this guy, induced(or forced)him to give Newsweek a bad report, which the Pentagon allowed to pass by them without comment, in order to discredit other Qoran desecration stories which they knew were about to break?

3. But it wasn't a bad report. |
|
Several other newspapers and magazines all over the world have reported that various disrespectful things had been done to the Qur'an.

7. The point is the specific allegation of the Qur'an being dumped |
|
page by page into the crapper at Gitmo was wrong. Yes, other reports of other acts of Qu'ran desecration are being verified.
My theory is based on the idea that this bad story was fed to Newsweek to preemptively discredit future stories that are properly sourced.

It has just come over the wire and Countdown just reported the story that the abuse regarding the Koran at GITMO is actually true. If you would like to watch the video we have posted it. Here is the link: http://www.dembloggers.com/story/2005/6/3/174212/8903Sorry I was going to post a thread but I don't have enough comments yet.

6. I never doubted it was actually true |

If you would like to read on, I'll scrape and paste what I've said about it replying to someone else who couldn't fathom the significance of the "FLushing the Koran" story:
The issue is that the Bush administration BAITED the press with one of the most sensational revelations of a Pentagon report, which you now know they already knew ALL about, a revelation which actually confims/reinforces the charge that torture and abuse is happening in our Gulags; they leaked that detail out EVER SO SLIGHTLY ASKEW; they got Newsweek to rush to print with this true but slighly spun detail, which then they DENIED, hotly and officially denied; forcing Newsweek to recant the story after their source--surprise, surprise!--now coyly refuses to stand by his information to them; then going further they publicly BASH and DENOUNCE Newsweek Magazine as criminally irresponsible for having published this detail, falsely attributing riots to this story, saying Newsweek is literally guilty of negligent homicide by instigating these riots, that Newsweek has blood on its hands to answer for--arch murderers accusing NEWSWEEK!--thus giving themselves days and days of free air time to heap DENIALS onto a story that THEY KNOW ALL THE WHILE TO BE TRUE, and whipping up the fever swamps of the Fascist movement into a paroxysm of condemnations of our national press (or what's left of it anyway), verging on a nationwide imposition of government censorship.
The Bush administration is defusing and deflecting the issue of ILLEGAL TORTURE by hiding evidence of it and admissions of the proof that torture is carried out in our Gulags by creating a swirl of meta-controversies so the truth can be dribbled out in a stream of lies and they can spend the public's attention span PRETENDING that the media are the badguys, that the REPORTING of torture is what's wrong, not the FACTUALITY of torture itself. That is the issue, not the mistreatment of the Koran, or some other religious totem. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Newsweek WAS PUNKED--and so hard that their noses are bleeding. They were punked in CLASSIC bait and switch style. But the rest of us are fucked by this too, unless we can return the story's focus to the Bush Administration's use of outlawed torture practices and shine light on their deliberate manipulations of truth, of official investigations and of the reporting by a supposedly free press.
