McLaughlin sez Rumsfeld on his way out.
They run the weekly McLaughlin Group on Friday night in my area, on PBS. You know, at the end of the show when each of the pundits gets to make some sort of prediction, the implication being, of course, that it is based on some inside knowledge.

This evening, the old man claims that the administration is already vetting possible replacements for Rum Vader. Rum Vader is leaving. No link, of course, but I thought folks might be interested in the old Jesuit's assertion.

3. Thanks. haven't watched they in "way long." But, it's big news that
Chimp would ditch his "Torturer in Chief" after Gonzales that is.

Did they give a reason why? Bush has been so loyal to his pack of theives that I gotta figure Rummy will be given a "Plum Job" to cover up their ditching him, as a "smoke screen."

5. I am unsure ...
He had apparently stumbled upon the fact that a replacement was being sought. His uptake: Rumsfeld won't finish Bush's term with Bush.

imagine the very worst possible person for the gig and there you hve it. It's like Bonehead looks at a given situation and asks himself: what can I do here to really screw the pooch?

Voila! Prince Turd-in-the-churn.

14. Not sure why this is news...
... Nosferatu said so, himself, last fall after the elections. Said he wanted to leave then, but would probably stay through mid-year.

20. OT.....McLaughlin claimed a few weeks ago that Bolton
was actually Lynne Cheney's choice/selection for the U.N. position. Did I hear him correctly?

I actually like this show but I'm saddened to see Eleanor Clift having to scream to get her viewpoint across. Most often it's Jabba the Blankley that's the source of her frustration.

and always have, as long as I remember her on that show. She's the Alan Colmes prototype, and always has been.

24. My prediction: Rice will replace Cheney before 08
I just can't shake the idea. She's being primed for something as SecState- I don't believe they'd ever really run her, but politically, the facade is everything to the GOP. (a facade they can work beneath)

Wouldn't that garner them favor from portions of the electorate that don't watch too closely? -favor that could translate into votes dems can't afford to lose.

Cheney's doing/done his mischief. He can't run; his numbers stay in the cellar. Seems like something he'd suggest himself.

27. Possible, I suppose,
Not that there wouldn't be an upside, but it wouldn't create the same image. The association with Washington might even hurt as much as the experience would help- that's not an issue for Rice, especially if she doesn't actually run.

They'll be starving for a national image boost- a makeover, at that point; a real splash.

31. I would be somewhat surprised if
Rummy the Dummy is on his way out.

But we certainly need someone in charge of Defense that better understands the military -- and military matters. Besides, at this time we very much need to get maximum "mileage" out of our efforts, and Rummy is not the man for that job. -- He's too much of a "visionary" to deal with the "mundane". (Or in other words: He's too nuts to handle reality.)
