1. What makes you think so? |
|
People have said that Kerry is a media magnet, meaning that at least he'll have cameras around him and will get coverage. Kerry can be really eloquent, too.

4. Why would Kerry "hurt the cause"? |
|
I was getting a little impatient for him to raise the issue.
He is one of the most high visibility Democrats, and he received more votes for President of the United States than any prior candidate in US History, except for GWB 2004 (maybe).
Kerry should be leading the charge on the DSM issue. The answer to that oft asked question, "what has he been doing for 20 years in the senate?" is "exposing illegal activities and corruption at the highest levels of government" (cf Iran/Contra and BCCI). He is immanently qualified to probe the DSM issue.

5. Am I the only one that thinks "Des Moines" everytime they see DSM? |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 12:49 AM by expatriot
or is it just those of us who have had the privilege of flying into and out of Des Moines "International" airport? (Oh my Iowa roots sing to me, the land between two rivers... A place to grow, that field of dreams, you make me smile. sdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdx <----- my cat added this... translation: "I like living in Arizona, I was born in Arizona, my mother and father were born in Arizona.... for generations I have been an Arizona cat.... now don't go getting all nostalgic about Iowa. My sister and I will hate the snow.")

7. Kerry is the most credible one of the bunch |
|
Sure Boxer could do it but she'd be marginalized as a nutcase. It's not Reid's or Hillary's game (unfortunately) and the others aren't well known enough to make a stir. Or maybe they could but it's still better to let Kerry do it since he's had a lot of practice.

8. Kerry SHOULD get the cause attention |
|
If there were any fairness in the media, they'd be covering Kerry like crazy because he's a former presidential candidate. Unfortunately, they have chosen to ignore him because he is actually raising important issues.

11. Kerry made a huge mistake in not denouncing |
|
the Bush lies about the war during the campaign. It's about time he did it now. Any Democrat who has not denounced the lies will have a hard time winning the trust of grassroots Democrats in 2008 -- regardless of how the war goes from now on.
I oppose the war, but let's say that, in three years, Iraq is doing quite well -- an unlikely hypothesis, but remotely possible. The Bush administration lies will still be inexcusable. Bush did not have enough evidence to justify going to war. Americans hate liars. That's what turned them against Nixon. The only reason it did not turn them against Clinton was that he lied about something personal -- something that many Americans lie about, and about which the tell themselves they lie to protect others -- their children or their spouses. But lying to justify going to war is foreign to Americans. Remember, after Johnson lied about why we were increasing our involvement in Viet Nam, he didn't dare run again. Bush lied and ran again. People interpreted his running again as a sign of a clear conscience -- wrong.
Kerry is very wise to do this. I will be surprised if he denounces the war. I expect him just to denounce the lies Bush told us to get us to go along with the war.

"Sore Loser", etc...
They will make this about Kerry...
If it was someone else, it would be better.
Still, Kerry is better than nothing!
