If I sign Conyer's letter, where will my address/personal info go?
I've been under a rock somewhere and now I'm just finding out about the DSM. I would like to send a huge forward to my friends and family but my concern is where the personal information requested will end up. I don't want to suddenly wake up to frozen bank accounts, etc.

1. No one wants to wake up to that. But
if 110,000 people can sign, so can you. They can't target all of us, and it's all about the truth getting out. Please sign and forward!

3. I trust John Conyers with my personal info...
Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 09:09 AM by ClassWarrior
...eons more than I trust the corporate whores at amazon.com with it. And I send my personal info to amazon.com all the time.

It's going on a letter, along with 249,999 other signatures, to the White House. I doubt they're going to single yours out. Plus your info will probably go on Rep. Conyers' mailing list.

Now what the hell do you mean by "IF" YOU SIGN CONYERS' LETTER?? IF!?? This is about doing the right thing and saving our nation. Make that "WHEN" YOU SIGN CONYERS' LETTER, please.

Thank you. <rant off>

Never Give Up.

4. Here's the deal, the info goes right to the FBI, CIA, BFEE and
all telemarketers and the Jehovah's witnesses. You get on a list to go to Gitmo, your kids are expelled from school, your driver's license is cancelled and they kill your pets. You get strip searched when you fly, they check on everything you take out of the library and search your house when you are gone without telling you.

I signed it and then changed my name and ran away to this cabin in the mountains, have to send this, my wife is getting tired of pedaling the bike that runs the generator that powers my computer.

Don't worry so much.

5. Help Bring Down the Chimperor: Sign

The Chimperor's biggest weapon is fear. You'll feel great after you sign. Think about those guys that signed the Declaration & the risks they were taking. Yeah, I know that's an enormous stretch but still...

8. This is my goddamn country, why be afraid of being a citizen?
And if its so screwed up that signing a petition is reason for others to be scared then that's motivation for me to sign it. I guess I thought that nearly all here would feel that way. Surprised that someone is afraid on that level when somnething this important has come up.

11. I look at it this way.
I am old, I have lived a very good life, my children are sucessful happy adults, with families of their own.

Spouse and I have both signed the petition and I was proud to submitt the info......much like those that boldly afixed their signatures to the Constitution.

I figure that if this despotic administration wants to take action against us, then they will also be responsible for feeding, clothing, housing, and medical care. We figure it's a lot cheaper than a nursing home and it will permit us to pass on down the little we have left to our children or at least give our children and grandchildren, nephews, nieces, etc., an education of what a corrupt government is able to do if they are prepared to stand and fight.

It's amazing what one person can do, when they join forces with millions of other individuals who have similar beliefs.

13. My very first job was Peoples Bank & Trust in Westfield NJ
Have very fond memories of this town. My very first-time voting for POTUS and it was for IKE. That was the time when GOP stood for something other than Greedy Opposition Party. I well remember IKE warning of the Military Complex yet we at that time could not comprehend this ever happening.

I voted for IKE yet I had always been an Independent voter and I remember well the jovial, give and take of opinions of "the loyal opposition." There was no talk of religion, traitors, etc. Only who we thought would be the best man to be leader of our Nation.

It is frightening to hear that Westfield has become a kool-ade town yet I am sure that this administration has given the bigots, racists, and self-righteous throughout our Nation the open door to act out their hatred.

10. Do it, it will be okay
Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 10:10 AM by LizW
Your information is safer with Conyers than lots of places. I paused a moment, then remembered all the magazines I subscribe to (Mother Jones, Utne, etc.) and all the donations I've made, and all the books I've purchased or checked out.

If the Nazis want me, they already know where I am.

We have to stand up and take a risk sometimes. If it keeps my sons from dying on some far off battlefield for the enrichment of oil companies, then it's more than worth it.
