Bush "nixes" torture, sleeps well, says pressers are for show offs
Bush nixes torture
Vows U.S. will not use it to grill terror suspects

snip>
"If you're in my shoes, and you thought Abu Farraj al-Libbi had planned an attack on America, would you use any means necessary to get the information from him?" Bush asked. "The decision I have made is 'No, we will not.' And let's just pray he doesn't have that information. And when I told the American people we're not torturing, we're not torturing.

"But try that on for an interesting ethical dilemma as the President of the United States," he added.
...
The good news? "I'm sleeping pretty good ... There's times when I hadn't been. I've got peace of mind."

He said he enjoys a "good relationship" with the press but isn't interested in having any more prime-time news conferences. "I have done enough East Room press conferences; I kind of write that off for people wanting to show off for folks at home. Want a little more exposure, with the right color tie when they get up there."

Is he taking a shot at Clinton, or at the reporters?

1. To Me He ALWAYS Talks Like
he has a load in his pants! And he walks that way too!

I no longer can be surprised by what comes out of his mouth. What does surprise me is that far too many people don't see the idiocy of his comments. And that we are being laughed at by far too many countries because of this "country bumpkin" with corn in his ears!

He is the epitome of the THREE MONKEYS!

4. At first I agreed with your description ...
..."He is the epitome of the THREE MONKEYS!"
Then I realized that he sees the evil, hears the evil ... and ENJOYS the evil.

6. The smirk on his hideous face is all the acknowledgment I need
We're on the same page, just interpreting the subtle nuance in a slightly different manner.

2. neither, I think that after this last fiasco called a press conference
that it is just the excuse rove made up to explain why there won't be anymore. It's humble and his base will buy it.

8. WTF!!!!
How dare he be so self-absorbed! Does he think the military members he's sent to Iraq are sleeping well at night? What about their families worrying about them all the time? Who gives a shit that he's sleeping well? I prefer he be up all night planning how to get the fuck out of Iraq! (I'm really pissed by this.)

He's the biggest idiot we have. And he's too good for press conferences? What an absolute fuckwit!

We need the press to hold him to account since he doesn't feel they serve much of a purpose.

And I don't think there are "enough" press conferences. I wish he had to face Congress the way the British PM faces Parliament every week. We deserve no less.

9. So he's going to hide out from the press
and sink deeper into his strange little world. Very dangerous indeed.

10. for bush up is down, down is up, left is right, right is left, far is near
near is far, war is peace ... we ought then to understand that when he says, "I have done enough East Room press conferences; I kind of write that off for people wanting to show off for folks at home."...

what he means is,

...don't you think i know i've hardly given anyone any press conferences--East Room, or anywhere else? Don't you think I know i hate to talk to the press, but don't you all know that i'll never admit to that, just like i'll never admit to being ignorant, or blood thirsty, or having lied about WMD, or wanting Saddam for daddy's revenge. Don't you all know that i've got to make me look good. You all can say any crap about me that you all want to, play up my ignorance, play up my faulty speech, play up my lies. I will make me look good, gooder than good. i will make myself look virtuously gifted, so don't you all keep trying to play catch you won't ever catch me... it ain't so, i ain't did it, i ain't never lied!!!!! <1>

12. Wait a minute, didn't he say he'd have monthly news conferences?
I seem to remember something either during the campaign or just after he was sworn in.
