"Scandals have a way of smoldering before erupting, |
|
as has occurred with every major presidential scandal..."
From 'Worse than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush' by John W. Dean (Former Counsel to President Richard Nixon)
A book released in mid 2004.
Anyone who is concerned about the amount of time it is taking for the Downing Street Minutes to become 'public' knowledge, should take the time to read this book. Beg, borrow, peruse in a book store, check it out of a library....READ IT!
I read it shortly after it was released. You can literally follow the unfolding of what is occurring with this episode by his predictions. He wrote this before the release of the DS Minutes, but he states quite emphatically at several points that there is no way to predict which of the cabal of 'misinformation' releases put forth by this presidency would take root, but with the amount out there, one certainly would begin to simmer.....
And let it....
We sure as hell do not want it boiling over before the 110th Congressional session convenes....

1. Or just look at how long it took for the Watergate story to really take |
|
off. Little stories here and there in dribs and drabs until BABOOOOOM.

the repug congress will just keep pissing on it to keep it from bursting into flame. They have upped their daily intake of kool-aid to 3 gallons per repug, kidney's are working overtime and I even heard a few repugs have had their bladders enlarged....

5. And look at his appointments |
|
they are all loyalists for a reason, they learned from Nixon and know that what they are doing is impeachable, that's why he picks who he does. It isn't just a President, it's all who surround him this time. More to fall harder or making it impossible to fell? I don't know.

6. The time frame here is almost identical to Watergate.... |
|
Nixon was re-elected in the fall of 1972 (by a huge majority, by the way-- unlike the close and questionable "victory" by Bush). The info about watergate simmered and simmered, and finally went into full boil during the summer of 1973 when televised hearings about it began.
