What is up with all the Piss-and-Vinegar polls tonight?!!
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 02:09 AM by tmorelli415
"Do you hate George W. Bush?"
"Are Republican voters traitors?"
"Is George W. Bush the anti-Christ?"

WTF?! Seems like we could find something better to discuss or survey. I don't see what purpose this type of thing serves other than stir-up emotions and make DU look very juvenile to the average observer. I'm all for free speech but give me a break!

It reminds me of the old standby, "How often do Republicans beat their wives?" A. Once a day, B. Twice a day, C. Nonstop

Good grief! Perhaps someone can clarify if I'm way out of line here...

How about a show of support for all of those who think this serves no good purpose? Show of hands, please...

5. I reserve the right to tell Freepers and their supporters to kiss my a**
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 02:33 AM by tmorelli415
huge difference between that and saying, "Gee boys and girls, let's talk about how much we hate someone. Shall we?"

As to posts, I've been logging on the DU for more than two years now. I just recently joined. I am not some new convert - I don't have a lot of posts but I point to the $2,000 and endless hours I gave to the party last year (not that it is necessary to give cash if one cannot) as perhaps as valuable as posts - my interest is more than casual, and I don't feel it is too much to politely wonder if we can find better things to discuss.

We don't need to give folks ammunition to use against us as proof to their claims that we have no positive agenda. That's just my opinion. I respect it if you don't agree.

6. there was a smilie implied
I meant that as sarcasm. Sorry if it wasn't clear. But there is a lot of cynicism around here.

7. Hey, I've earned the right to vent.
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 02:19 AM by Placebo
In my almost 9,000 posts, I'm usually not that crazy or extreme, and I barely come into the GD: P anymore, so I reserve the right to get pissed!

11. Ok, I can respect that
but can't you find a better way of being pissed? You've done a great deal to show your commitment. I think veterans on here could help guide the debate to meaningful results. We need that in our party especially right now. Venting is great and this is a good place for it, but there must be some limits to it and I just feel that an entire discussion as a barometer of how much you hate something or someone is a little silly.

10. uh, boredom

Or the Magical Downing Street Memo isn't kicking in yet for the believers in that.

Or it's just the general take-leave-of-your-analytic-powers behavior that seems to be running amok in GD for the past few weeks. I've suspected a couple of determined trolls to be the root cause of this phenomenon but it might just be a lot of the saner 'regulars' staying away.

Then again, it was this bad for the first six or eight months after the blown expectations of the '02 elections. It evolved into a Dean clique hazing ground after that for nearly a year- which I will merely comment upon as not the finest hour of an awful lot of people.

17. Disappointing
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 03:18 AM by tmorelli415
that one may expect his fellow Democrats to live up to their highest ideals. Stupid, indeed. I can only imagine if Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, John Kennedy, Franklin D. Roosevelt were here they would rail against one another and conduct polls to determine who hates Republicans, and if GW was the anti-Christ. Yes, they would definitely think it was a glorious thing, I am sure. No 2x4 would slap them across the forehead for they would crawl into the mud and sling it with enthusiasm! How proud they would be!

I'm reconsidering the wisdom of becoming a member.

Enough said.

19. we don't just hate Bush, we hate him with a passion
He is the new Hitler.

Many of us are so outraged by the murdering thug that we have to let it out somehow.

The only thing good that can be said about Bush is that he has unified all flavors of progressives in their desire to see him impeached and imprisoned.

18. Yeah, kind of senseless
None of us like republicans or George Bush much or we wouldn't be here. There is alot of constructive conversation here from time to time although we seem to be in a lull this week. I ignore what I deem to be garbage and only read the topics that interest me or otherwise seem worthwhile.

20. I agree tmorelli..
Polls like this give the oppo an easy place to pick up crap to illustrate our "hateful" nature.

We really should let them sink..but there are some people who just can't resist them..
