Kerry has been Impressing me
His planned speech tomorrow taking Bush to task and then some on Downing Street and his other actions since the election have electrified me. He has been one of the leading Bush critics in the Senate and on the war and on a host of domestic issues. He has shown great backbone and I didn't think I would support him for '08, but if he keeps it up and helps make the Downing Street memo a major issue (as it should be) I will strongly consider supporting him for the Democratic nomination in 2008--especially if the alternative is Hillary.

He can mend some fences if he announces that he's joining Conyers' call. If he says "J'accuse!" he's forgiven.

2. Kerry has been the most consistent and outspoken
member of the Senate and has been the true Leader of the Party. He spoke out against the Bankruptsy Bill when Reid voted for it and he has put his own money into trying to defeat Bolton. This man truly is our president.

Kerry is fighting almost alone. I admire him already, but in times like this more than ever.

It's my favorite one from all the Senate races. The 'X' in her name is shaped like a ballot checkbox. I love it.

30. You're wrong
Comments like that really tick me off. FIRST how do you know he's done nothing? HmMMM?

Well, gee...my investigations have shown me that he still has people FIGHTING in OHIO.

hmmmm...my investigations show he's paid HIS OWN money to keep the fight up...HIS OWN MONEY not yours, mine or your neighbors--not campaign money, but HIS OWN MONEY.

The media trashed him and you make it easy to help the media and the neocons.

The election was stolen each and everyone of us know it. Now he could stand up there in and talk to the fraudulent media or he can fight behind the scenes and in the senate.

But as far as I'm concerned people need to recognize they only add to the republicans lovely crimes when they bash Kerry or any dems. Maybe you want the neocons to continue their power in office. If so, then keep on bashing; if not, then lay off the dems, kerry or anyone else and focus on YOUR local thug and get them out of office too.

I understand your frustration. I get the same feeling when people attack the hell out of Hillary. She is my favorite choice at the moment. I would love to have both Clinton's in the White House again! Many disagree though. Last week I was listening to Mike Malloy, he had on one of the CEO's from Air America, he said "the liberals eat there own" and I think he was right! But we will all come together when the time is right. Thanks for your reply. Welcome to DU.

that says it and that explains my frustration! Period. I just want people to focus on their local candidates and get progressives elected across the board. I want them to build an infrastructure for progressives the same way the neocons did. aND the only way we can do this is if we agree to stop beating each other up and instead use our sharp words against the otherside.

Thanks for understanding.

62. now we have the "mutual agreement party" but I agree with you!--lol
I'm from Michigan. But I'm working to get progressives elected here. So far Joe Shwartz our "moderate" repubican may as well be a rubber stamp for Bush. It's sad. But I really strongly believe that the power of grassroots will help us overcome the media and republican bias. Frankly, the republicans also have their grassroots and they fight day and night 24/7 and they fight to win. We can't just "fight for another day" we have to stay at it and beat them at their own game. So I really encourage you to join groups locally and create opportunities to rally people to vote progressive. If you can create a website--go for it. If you can build a coalition in your church or synagogue--go for it. If you can volunteer and spread the message whereever you volunteer--go for it. AND on April 15th park yourself at the post office and pass out voter registrations and remind them that the majority party has taken a surplus and created a mountain of deficit.

To be the only one with a chance to beat a hated incumbent, and blow it, says a bunch about what people think of him. No one takes a Presidential vote lightly, and for him not to cream the hated Bush speaks volumes about the disdain people feel for Kerry.

OTOH, your post about Hilary makes no sense to me. I think she'd be a fine candidate. No, that doesn't mean I'm in the Hillary camp but looking at the whole picture, I see her getting a lot of votes and I'm all about winning.

During the election, and your talking points fail to acknowledge that while you may have hated Bush, many other people in the US did not and at best had mixed emotions about Bush. He was running the war though and they were concerned about changing leaders at a time of war.

Not to mention the thievery in the electronic machines.

BushInc had to lie, cheat and steal 24/7 with the help of 90% of broadcast media throughout the campaign because Kerry was such a strong candidate.

Yes, Kerry got more votes than Clinton, and I believe Bush won by fraud. Kerry can still win in '08!

I also agree that his speechwriters held him back. Same thing with Gore's "handlers" in 2000. Both are much more effective when they are "just themselves".

This thread just popped up, saying Kerry won't be in Wash until tomorrow, but he will bring it up then,

enough with that defeatist talk that the big bad republicans stole the race from us. It makes us sound powerless and pathetic.

You give the republicans way too much credit.

I work the elections polls the race wasn't stolen we lost, we can learn from our mistakes and campaign next time in rural areas and have a more consistent message. I also resent people smearing my profession i and my co-workers take pride in what we do.

The race wasn't stolen we lost the house by 29 seats you can't win a presidency that way.

Kerry lost 255 of the 435 congressional districts to bush in their match up.

Kerry was a drag on the ticket and cost us 4 senate seats kentucky, south dakota, florida, and alaska.

Kerry lost we need a great candidate next time that is anti war.

Whatever his reasons were for not releasing these records last year is imaterial. All it did was spon more accusations during a very hotly contested election.

When he had the spotlight, he crumbled, and I don't intend to offer him a second chance at the brass ring.

Do we care if it's right in the middle of something like the Janice Brown debate, or would we prefer something with more timing. Someone in the Kerry group suggested Wed looked better schedule-wise. But I was honestly wondering if folks here prefered the "get it over with" approach or the "better timing" approach. Either way, the announcement itself that he would be saying something seems to be baring fruit media-wise. I assume that's the reason.

57. Kennedy gave the speech (with Kerry's consent, I'm sure)....
and that would make more impact than having Kerry ("sore loser") make the pitch. I'm sure that Kerry will be making more noise about the memo.

59. I like kerry and support him but
He ignored (willingly?) the diebold/ability to steal the election information, and he ignored all the evidence that the right wing smear mmachine would take him down if he didnt respond to the lies DAILY and HARD!
Has he learned those lessons? I dont know. (I dont think he or any of them like biden etc have imo)

I think we need someone who speaks over the sound machine and never waivers or lets them get by with anything!

61. Wrong- he only put a blurb about it on a low traffic web-site.
Kennedy merely informed the Base about it- who already knows.

DEMs are apparently too frightened to make this an actual issue.

63. Kennedy didn't give a Speech it was on his Blog. Senate tied up with
Judge votes (which they will pass) and onto Bolton... No one has spoken out yet on the Senate floor because the schedule was for Judges and Bolton.

So much disinformation (honest mistakes in many cases by folks such as yourself) here on DU, though that anyone in the Senate is out doing "Floor Speeches.'

They addressed it because they know we are mad as hornets out here. So they tell us they "hear us" with not a "bullhorn" but a "blog."

 it's the best we can hope for until Bush's agenda has been fully passed and they can all move on to thinking about us here out in the "grassroots."
