The Media's Trying To Make Dems Appear Divided Dean) & Ignore GOP Schism
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 09:28 PM by cryingshame
Phony infighting stories regarding Dean, Biden, Edwards.

Phony stories about how 'bad' Dean's doing fund raising.

And yet, there hasn't been a whole lot of reporting about the GOP's schism over filibuster or Bolton or base closings etc.

So now we know WHY the stupid non-story about comments made regarding Dean came out.

Stop taking the freaking corporate media's bait.

1. They have been doing this....
since the Dean speech at the take back America convention. They trapped Biden on tv this morning. Between this and the missing Alabama girl in Aruba the MSM will be pretty busy this week.

2. What we talk about here has nary an effect on anything.
People are talking about it because they have opinions on it. That's the whole point of DU. Any caterwauling here changes the the big picture not one iota.

The fact that it's being "reported" makes it comment-worthy.

Carry on.

3. There wouldn't have been a story if Joe "MBNA" Biden and little John
hadn't opened their mouths and sought to discredit Dr. Dean.

Ronald Reagan famously had the 11th Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican.

Gee, maybe the Democrats should learn from that.

6. BS! The bad boy Dean stories started BEFORE Edwards' comment
Believe the MSM spin if you'd like but spreading their meme, "The Democratic party is broken" wont help us win elections.

5. From Aravosis's "America Blog" website about why Biden/Edwards did it..
Interesting read and it gives all the quotes in question and some speculation about why Biden/Edwards might have made the comments about Dean:

Dems. love to eat their own
by Joe in DC - 6/5/2005 08:22:00 PM

Why is it that Democrats just love to attack their own? Howard Dean makes a fairly innocuous criticism of Republicans. The response? He gets dumped on by leading Democrats, John Edwards and Joe Biden, both of whom are (surprise, surprise) thinking about running for President themselves. The "controversy," such as it is, is over these remarks, as reported by AP:

While discussing the hardship of working Americans standing in long lines to vote, Dean said Thursday, “Republicans, I guess, can do that because a lot of them have never made an honest living in their lives.” Dean said later his comments did not refer to hard-working Americans, but rather to the failure of Republican leadership to address working-class concerns.

Dean also said he thinks Tom DeLay should be in jail. So what's the problem? The GOP doesn't care about working class concerns and Tom DeLay probably will be in jail (and certainly should). So, again, what's the big deal?

This looks like another one of those cases where the Right Wing media machine ginned up over Dean's comments... fed them to the media.... who then got Democrats (who conveniently are running for president, so they want to knock Dean out of the picture) to bash Dean. Seriously, the GOP must just sit back and laugh over how easy it is. Our people fall for it every time. They got this headline from AP: "Dems Blast Dean For GOP Remarks".

7. WHO is Joe in DC?
Way over the top claiming Edwards "bashed Dean" and was "beating" on him. Since when, did disagreeing with one reckless comment equate to "bashing" and "beating?" That would be the Republican way. To excommunicate anyone who veered from the talking points memo.

8. He guest blogs for John. He's a DC insider, I suppose. Have read
other articles by him on America Blog. It's interesting what he says whether you agree with it or not...there are some good points.
