4. I was going to say I agreed
until you added Edwards to the list.

I can recognize myself in Dean, but certainly not in Edwards.

5. Put Clark in there and I'm with ya.
He's not out there bashing anyone except REPUBLICANS - and this administration, in particular.

Clark, Dean and Gore: political heaven.

17. They are going to anyway so why should we aid them
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 09:06 AM by Toots
If you vote for a Democrat that goes against Democratic Principles you are not voting for a Democrat. Just a D behind someone's name. I would rather go down fighting than just be swept away without firing a shot. I would join their party in a heart beat. At least my beliefs would be aired for people to mak their own minds up over. Democrats have not been espousing any of my beliefs lately. Republican lite just doesn't sit well with me. They said the same thing as you when Ventura ran for Governor. The right person saying the right things will win over Party any day.

8. Unfortunately, it would cement the repug's power indefinitely
whether we like it or not, this country has a two party system without much room for anything else. If Dean and Gore were to splinter off the Democratic Party it would be a huge victory for the repugs.

9. If you can get the labor unions to ditch the Democrats, you've got a party
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 11:56 PM by Selatius
Labor is the largest supporting pillar of the Democratic Party. If that pillar is removed, the Democratic Party would collapse as a functional organization within a few election cycles.

Until now, no third party has ever tried to attack the Democratic Party's core pillar by convincing them to switch over wholesale.

12. They don't need to form their own party...
they need to take back the one we have.

Gore and Dean are two of the only Democrats really standing up to Bush and the Republican leadership (a few others as well, like Boxer of course).

The trick is not to give up on the Party. We shouldn't have to leave. Let the Clintonites and the triangulators and the spineless capitulators go and form their own party. It was ours first. That's why they call themselves "new Democrats."

14. Agreed. Clinton knew about the PNAC
plans in 1998. He and the DLC did nothing to stop them. The Clintonites want control of the world's resources as well. I want Clark, Gore, Dean, Kucinich, Conyers and the rest of the Black Caucus.

15. I'm concerned that some Democrats are setting up to dump Dean
I'm concerned that some Democratic leaders may be setting up to oust Dean. The negative spin on some of his stronger comments, the misleading fundraising stories may indicate that there's some serious behind the scenes action going on.

If there's some sort of coup at the DNC and Dean bolts the party taking alot of his grassroots supporters with him, this could mean the emergence of a strong progressive populist party to replace the Democrats, or, more likely, a division of the opposition leading to increased Republican control. This is not a good thing which is why, the main stream media and Republican spokesmen are playing this up for all its worth. The mainstream Democrats are predictably, falling into their trap.

There's strength in unity. To quote Ben Franklin "We must all hang together or most assuredly we will all hang seperately"

18. It worked so well for George Wallace.....
I frankly don't think Dean has enough supporters to top what Perot did if he ever tried to make it on his own.
