Q. to Media: How can Bolton win the vote if he cannot get past cloture?
Do the press intentionally not listen or are they just that stupid. Biden was speaking of the "up or down" vote Bolton would get if he can get past the cloture vote.

Which Democrats are going to cross over and vote for cloture who have not already done so? The last vote included 41 Democrats and Inouye was absent. When he returns, it could well be 42 Democratic votes--and, of course, only 41 votes are needed to stop cloture and an "up or down vote."

Biden has said the Democrats are holding firm until they get the information they have requested from the White House. The White House has said they are not sending over any more information.

Is the press paying attention or are they just that dumb? Biden never said they were in danger of losing the cloture vote. Perhaps they are, but he never said so.

And, of course, they are repeating this story on CNN today--taken from the AP article which ran yesterday and is linked below, along with an excerpt from it.

"Democrats Not Likely to Stop Bolton"

"The president can probably refuse to give us this information, which we're completely entitled to as the United States Senate, and that's the reason why we're not letting the vote go forward," Biden said.

The material Democrats have sought for weeks involves Bolton's use of government intelligence on Syria, and instances in which he asked for names of fellow U.S. officials whose communications were secretly picked up by a U.S. spy agency.

3. Bolton got out because Chairman Lugar changed vote to No Recommendation
to get the nomination to the floor of the Senate. Nevertheless, Bolton must get past the cloture vote. Biden said nothing about Bolton winning the cloture vote. He was speaking of the "up or down vote" which takes place after a successful cloture vote.

This "up or down vote" cannot take place unless the Democrats fail to hold the 41 votes of the Senators who against cloture--and Inoyue, who was out, should be back this week. He could make it 42--and only 41 votes are needed to stop cloture.

7. Committee is majority Republican and they don't care about Republican LIES
It makes no difference to them how many LIES a Republican tells it is for a "Just Cause". The ends justify the means to Republicans and they have no shame.

2. Perhaps..
The 'liberal' press is setting the GOP up to look like bumblers. By making it seem as if they could get the nomination voted on, if they don't get the cloture vote, they'll look like there is something going on in the Republican camp that is causing this slow down.

4. Would be nice, but the "liberal" press is no friend to the Democrats.

They have failed to their job to monitor the Bush administration, and have been effectively neutered since 9/11.

The insular media crowd in Washington does not even see that our democracy is in peril. What will it take to wake them up?
