ALERT ALERT - for those not on DU this weekend.
Kerry is supposed to speak today (when the Senate opens this aftrernoon?) about the 2002 Minutes.

Republicans reportedly are going to say that Clinton in effect approved the war on Iraq in 1998.

They are sighting a House Resolution bill that supports and allows funding to factions within Iraq who are able to dispose of Saddam. Statements made by various leaders emphasize that it is not intended for military action by the U.S. Two of those quoted are Lott and Helms.

The Resolutions is HR 4655.

Here is a link to who said what and a summary of the Resolution.

Be ready to have to straighten our the right wing media and right wing media swallowers.

1. What? It is President Bill Clinton's fault that George Bush.....
...used lies and deception to get America and its allies into an illegal invasion of Iraq under false pretenses? That will be the republican response to the Downing Street Report/Minutes?

3. HAhaha so now Clinton is all knowing and to be listened to?
Good GOD!

I had heard that tripe before I just thought it went over so badly that they had dropped it by now, apparently not.

4. Our response: "Clinton - STILL more powerful than Bush"
George can't even overcome the oomph of someone whose been out of office for 5 years !

What kind of a Weenie War President is he, anyway ?
What does that say about what a 'strong resolute leader' he is, if he fell into a DEMOCRAT's quagmire ?

Twist, spin, deflect ... c'mon, we're as good at it as they are !!!

5. How on earth can one penis
accomplish so much?

When the Big Dawg finally passes on I hope he has a signed organ donor card, because that's one organ that still has miles to go before it sleeps.

Clenis endures like Nolan Ryan's pitching arm.

7. Some other talking points I've heard already....
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 09:30 AM by johnaries
1. It's old news (true, many of us already knew that Bush lied, but this is the most damning evidence we've had.)
2. The UN and all our allies thought Saddam had WMD (not true, at the time Russia called our intel "propaganda" and France called it "phony". The UN believed the inspectors - that there were no WMD.)
3. The term "fixed" has a different meaning in Britain (yes, I actually heard this several times! Our fellow DUer's in th UK have verified that in Britain it means what the rest of the world thinks it means - the "fix is in")
4. It's just an opinion (No, it's an official report)
5. The findings have already been discredited by the special commission on Iraq Intel (which was instigated by Bush and members were hand-picked by Bush. The commission and their findings also need to be investigated.)
edit to add 6. Congress thought Saddam had WMD (yes, but only because of the falsified Intel that Bush gave them.)

Get ready, the spin is coming!
