Stop it Already - Kerry Will Not Speak Today re DSM!
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 03:54 PM by NightOwwl
I just spoke to a representative at Kerry's office. He IS NOT in Washington. He WILL NOT be speaking about the DSM on the Senate floor today. He IS disturbed by the memo. He intends (whatever that means) to bring the memo up to Congress. The rep could not tell me when, or in what format, or even if it would broadcast.

She did say he has plans to do something. So, we are back to square one...completely in the dark about the whole matter.

4. If you missed it, I'm sure others did also so letting them know what
is going on is a good thing. :)

5. "Working behind the scenes" as in...
playing the waiting game of mental jujitsu? Or as in working out a true plan of action?

7. All of that "working behind the scenes" crap came from us
not Kerry right after the election. In the absence of any real news, we consoled ourselves with speculation as to what kind of man he was, his past actions and what we thought he could be doing.

I took him at his word then, and wasn't disappointed. I take him at his word now. He will speak on it, when he gets back to Washington. He's not back yet. I for one will wait and see what does happen.

15. I was asking BlueBear in particular because he made the comment...
and the phrase carries a different message depending on who says it.

18. I know. I was addressing him as well
though perhaps I shouldn't assume he meant it sarcasticly.

27. You weren't disappointed in Kerry AFTER the concession?
Goodness, you certainly have a low, low tolerance for inaction.

"All of that "working behind the scenes" crap came from us"

Yeah, and he made FOOLS out of ALL of you regarding the secret plans he DIDN'T have, and the "behind the scenes" activity he WASN'T engaged in, and the pounce he never quite got around to, and so forth.

I wasn't disappointed in him myself, but that's because I expected NOTHING and was amply provided for in those expectations.

30. How could he make fools of us
when he said what he meant and meant what he said. He said he would sponsor and election reform bill. He sponsored an election reform bill. He said he would make sure every vote was counted. His lawyer still has a lawsuit pending in Ohio for just that purpose.

Plus all the awesome Senator-type work he's done so far. Plus the PAC that mirrors Gov. Dean's grassroots efforts.

He didn't make a fool out of me. And he has been far from inactive.

6. sometimes...like today...when no one seems to be on the same page
I think it would be nice if we could have an updates page...where nothing moved. It would just be updates so we didn't have to have post after post of the same thing.

10. Doesn't sound like darkness to me
He's going to address the memo this week. That's what he said he was going to do. I don't understand what people are in a tizz about. He never said he was going to address it today.

It's what you said they said, for one thing. He's not in town today, he'll address it this week. I don't quite know why you think that's being in the dark, that's exactly what he said last week. People put words in his mouth, then wonder why he doesn't do whatever it is they conjured up. His office is compltely baffled as to where the idea he was going to speak on the floor today came from, because they knew he wasn't going to be back to do it. Another sad case of internet telephone. I wish people would learn how to discern a fact from supposition.

did not have the slightest idea when he would be commenting on the issue.

ETA: She also said she was the one in charge of handling the DSM calls, so one would think she would have the correct information.

29. JK's staff keeps a tight lid on things
They always have and always will. I had a lot of contact with his staff during the campaign and they control the message tightly. It's the same now. They are very cautious who they give info to.

It is my understanding from my sources that JK will address this at the appropriate time. Currently the Senate schedule is focused on the judicial nominees and possibly Bolton this week.

31. Since Bolton seems to be intimately involved ...
with the events surrounding the DSM, let's hope Kerry brings it up when the focus moves from judicial nominees to Bolton. Can't think of a better time than that.

19. Many Senators are absent on Monday, where there is no real debate
and where the Senate is only on session for a few hours.

They stay in their State and work on state business. Nothing surprising there.

14. Senate is debating Janice Brown today.
The best venue for Kerry to make a speech would be on the Senate floor. With debate on Brown going through tomorrow, followed by debate on Bolton, the most likely time will be morning order business.

The Senate will reconvene at 10AM tomorrow, watch for it then.

20. I assume he is waiting for the Michael Jackson verdict.
Otherwise, it will be somewhat difficult for the media to justify their non-coverage.

Of course, I'm pretty cynical where Kerry is concerned.

22. What is he waiting for? A focus group? A poll? Divine guidance?
Perhaps Kerry is waiting for someone else to walk the plank before he sticks his Skull & Bones neck out!

When it comes to Bush, there is no middle ground!
