How did the rumor that Kerry was going to speak about DSM today begin?

This seems to be a HUGE issue here today. I must have missed the original discussion though. Did he or his spokesfolk state it would be today? And is he really going to say anything at all? Did he say he was?

1. I believe he was going to give a floor speech on an unspecified topic.

I did also hear this morning that it got delayed. Although, I can't be 100% sure about it :-P

on Monday. He didn't say how he was going to bring it up. He didn't specify at all exactly. We got reports from his office that he was definitely going to bring it up on the Senate floor. But since he's not back in Washington yet for whatever reason, he didn't give the speech. But we're being told that he definitely will give one, most likely this week, possibly tomorrow.

I'd say it was a cheap shot to get some online publicity without acatually doing anything. But I guess time will tell.

Considering it was a small town newspaper that broke the story, it would be a damn funny way to get publicity. You'd think he'd have tried for the Globe at least.

That said, we are told he will definitely be giving a speech. We will have to see about the timing.

Most Senators stay in their States and take care of their local affairs, so there is nothing surprising that he was not there today.

I do not know how he plans to do that. I have seen the same reports you read, but honestly, there are so many rumors on the Web that I trust very few people with things like that.

7. Here is the exact quote from an interview in a MA newspaper

He never said that he would make a speech on the senate floor or how he would raise the question. He never said he would do that on Monday.

Unfortunately, the rumor was all over the Internet before it was too late.

This said, whoever know how the Senate works knows it is not the day for a major speech as most Senators are out of state, so, even if Kerry planned to make a speech on the Senate floor, he probably would not have made it Monday.
