1. Perhaps he's been told
he'll never be on the ticket unless he becomes an unquestioning supporter of the Homeland Security State.

2. If he has been...
... he wielded the knife himself.

He came to the Senate tabula rasa.

3. Obama has been a huge disappointment
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 12:24 AM by dissent1977
I, like many others, expected Obama to be among the greatest Senators (admittedly that is not saying much), but I have been sorely disappointed in his performance so far. He has not done nearly enough to speak out against the Bush regime, and has in fact stood up for them on more than one occasion now. I once hoped that Obama would be in the White House, but now I am having serious second thoughts.

4. Had you
followed his campaign, you would have known that he isn't very center-leaning let alone left-leaning.

5. That's surprising. He was quite the democratic darling.
You're saying he's been as-good-as-republican all along?

very pro-lifer and google his campaign from there.
Let's just say that Dinos ... well for me Chirac is a fascist/corporatist and in the U$ of A he would be considered far-left.
Bernie Sanders and Kucinich are as left as FDR.
37 years and a couple days ago, had RFK had not been killed maybe things would have been different .... :(
The RayGun era was absolutely devastating for the People!
On edit I forgot to add that Collin Powell tried to cover up the Mai Lai Massacre.

8. Wonder how much of a hand Bush Sr. had in JFK and RFK's untimely deaths?
It seems, for Jack anyway, he couldn't account for his wherabouts that day. What else has that vile slimy man not been able to account for? :eyes:

President Kennedy's murder was likely the first shot fired in the Right-Wing coup against American democracy. His murder, along with the slaying of his brother, RFK, Martin Luther King and others all but ensured our lurch to the Far Right.

6. Is this really from Obama?
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 12:50 AM by cestpaspossible
My email to Senator Obama:

I read a blog called "Body and Soul." Today, the author writes about an issue that she has written of several times recently: CIA abductions of people around the world. These people are then transported by private planes to places like Afganistan where they are subjected to torture for extended times only to be released without charges. According to the article, the "White House, Justice Department and CIA officials have long argued that U.S. laws authorize such covert operations," If this is the case, I believe it is imperative that congress issue legislation to stop this morally despicable practice.

Senator Obama's response:

Dear Kingsley:

Thank you for your email regarding the article the blog you read that asserted that the CIA has made a practice of abduction and torture around the world. I appreciate your sharing with me your thoughts and concerns on this matter. Also, I apologize for my late reply. I'm afraid it has taken me much longer than I anticipated to catch up on the nearly four month backlog of correspondence I inherited whern I was sworn into office in January.

I had a chance to take a look at the article you read in "Body and Soul." Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the advent of new security efforts at home and abroad, many citizens such as yourself have become highly suspect of our nation's intelligence operations. Much of this, I believe, is a reaction to the very unfortunate and disturbing stories we have heard coming out of the war in Iraq, Guantanomo Bay and other areas regarding the torture of detainees and other questionable interrogation tactics. The truth, however, is that torture and other such practices are not condoned by the United States. The case of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, in which the soldiers found guilty of torture were sentenced to signficant and wholly appropriate prison terms, illustrates that the United States is committed to rooting out such behavior. Those prison sentences were deserved, and it is my hope that they serve as reflections of this country's resolve to end such behavior. Again, Kingsley, thank you for your email. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future on this or any issue of concern to you.

Sincerely,
Barack Obama
United States Senator

Is that really from the same guy who stirred us last July? Holy shit, if so, he sure had me fooled.

He was just a just a little 'liter' lite-Repug. About on the same page as the now Benedict XVI. Except maybe a little more pro-war.

10. He is a huge disappointment. Apparently, you run on the left and
then stand on the right.
