Are you pissed off enough yet? |
|
Are you pissed off enough yet that you are willing to work and otherwise support whatever candidates are running against Republicans? You have to accept that you are not likely to get a candidate who meets your every criteria. You are going to have to compromise your wishes if we are to get these damn Republicans out of power. As much as I preferred Kucinich, Dean or Edwards, I worked hard for Kerry because he was the last, best hope to get America back on track to sanity. Are you willing to have any Republicans getting elected or re-elected because you disagree with some issue the Democratic candidate has? Wake the hell up and jab your neighbor to wake him or her up too.

16. You are still needed. |
|
What if our soldiers gave up after getting their asses handed to them in a battle in a shooting war? You aren't in this alone. You are fighting for grandmas and kids around the world. Stick to the fight! We've got a long way to go. I'd like to see a Socialist government but might wind up supporting Hillary Clinton. At least she would be several steps in the right direction. The Republicans have shown they have to go. Rule-the-world Neo-cons and run-your-life Conservatives are in need of getting their asses whipped.

better then being a republican ideologue. I would rather people vote their minds then their association with a political party. Calmer heads always prevail in times of trouble. It may seem bad now but time has proven that no one political party will hold power forever.

This is not a game between Repukes and Dims. The division will come over fascist v anti-fascist. There is no purity of the the Democratic Party that makes fascist support acceptable.

it is vital that people realize they aren't likely to ever get a "perfect' candidate. If they aren't perfect, will you still support them to get rid of the Republicans?

|
The way I see it is we need to push at every step of the way to get candidates who support human rights, environmental standards, and health care for all. Start locally, start early, stay committed.

Don't think it can't happen here.
As long as the repubs control the election process and the vote tally machines we can expect repub victories.

This point is one about why it is vital to take back national, state and local control. We must retake the Secretary of States offices to return control of the election process to being honest.

24. "Calmer heads always prevail in times of trouble." |
|
In my experience, in times of trouble the ones who prevail are those who yell the loudest, stir up the most anxiety, and panic the sheeple into doing what they want. Calmer heads tend to be steamrollered by mobs.
As a variant of a common saying, if you're not pissed, you're not paying attention.

30. The goal of any progressive should be to take power away from |
|
the fascists.
If that means electing moderate or even conservative dems is necessary to regain the majority and thus control the agenda, so be it.
That is the ideological mistake made by all the Naderites over the last five years -- blindly supporting a progressive champion and by doing so, taking votes away from candidates who actually had a chance of stopping the Bush machine.
Maybe, just maybe, if they had voted the lesser of two evils they might not have wound up with the greater of two evils.

our party puts forward. That is how the system is supposed to work, you have a primary to narrow the field, then everyone comes together to support the remaining candidate.

14. Sure, that's how it's SUPPOSED to work... |

But in reality, how many state primaries are held after the outcome is already decided? By the time the primary season hits the first 3 or 4 pissant states, the game is basically over.
No offense to Iowans, SC'ians and New Hampshiriteonians (wtf are y'all, anyway?), but seriously~

31. I want to see Social-Democrats win |
|
--We need a national health care system to provide insurance for all Americans. We are getting sicker in this country from all the pollution and the working conditions we have to put up with. --We need an education system that covers everybody as far they can go with their education. Many people, such as Bill Gates for instance, are able to learn enough about a subject to develop new technologies and create new jobs. --America ought to be setting the standards for how to treat people right. We ought to never face being ashamed of how our military and government treat people. We need government officials who are required to disclose what they are up to, except in those cases where security is honestly involved. --We have a lot of improvement to be made with child care, providing for our seniors, establishing public transit, getting our judicial system to function honestly, creating jobs, insuring our food supplies are safe, getting the best quality done on our airplane repairs, getting quality done on our roads, bridges and buildings. --The financial institutions and corporations in America need to be closely regulated to protect our investments in them. Many communities are providing tax breaks for companies that may go belly-up due to internal fraudulent practices. This is some of what I want politicians to speak to and act on to get my support and vote. I sure haven't seen it so far.

20. Of course that's the way to go! That's what the Pubs did. |
|
Many years ago, they started laying their base, getting all Pubs in place, from dog catcher, city councils, state sens and reps, governors, then on to the Feds. I don't want to take 25 years to do it like they did! First of all, I'll be dead by then!!!! But there are always local elections, even in years when there's no "off year" senate and Rep ones. That's what Dean has been trying to promote! Start NOW, and convince local people to run for those small seats.
If we're lucky, we'll get enough done by 2006 to make a change, at least in the Seante!

The fight will be taking place forever. There is no end to working for changes that better the world. Your lifetime is a step along the way to improving things. Each time a goal is reached, it is time to raise the bar. You don't "Win it for once and all". All you can hope for is to step forward and not get pushed back.

They don't get any real pollution laws passed. They don't get workers rights laws passed or enforced. They don't get real Human Rights acted upon. They just support the status quo in America. I want better. I will support the most Socialist candidates the Democrats run. I want national health care, human rights, and education, just to start with. Republicans are working against what I want, Republican-Light Democrats mostly give lip service to what I want. If you agree with the things I want, we all need to push the Democrats in the right direction.
