WaPo/ABC Poll: 52% disapprove of *'s handling of job
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/07/AR2005060700296.html

For the first time since the war in Iraq began, over half of the American public believes the fight there has not made the United States safer, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

While the focus in Washington has shifted from the Iraq conflict to Social Security and other domestic matters, the survey found that Americans rank Iraq second only to the economy in importance -- and that many are losing patience with the enterprise.

Nearly three quarters of Americans say the number of casualties in Iraq is unacceptable, while two-thirds say the U.S. military there is bogged down and nearly six in 10 say the war was not worth fighting -- in all three cases matching or exceeding the highest levels of pessimism yet recorded. More than four in ten now believe the U.S. presence in Iraq is becoming analogous to the experience in Vietnam.

snip

Overall, more than half-- 52 percent -- disapprove of how Bush is handling his job. A somewhat larger majority-56 percent-- disapproved of Republicans in Congress and an identical proportion disapproved of Democrats.

3. yes, but check out the full article (get password from BugMeNot)
because they are getting unhappier about a LOT of things * is doing.

Also, as shown on www.pollkatz.com, ABC/WaPo polls tend to report slightly higher approval ratings for Bush than other polls.

4. I know his poll numbers have worsened
And I know that he is losing approval in nearly every area, but nearly across the board, almost half of Murkans still "approve." (at least according to the mainstream polls)

6. I agree, it's mind boggling. But I suspect it's because for a lot of
people, the effects of his disastrous tax and economic policies haven't directly affected them, or they don't see the connection--YET. For example, many who have two reasonable and stable incomes and a 6% mortgage are thinking things are going fine. But wait until that changes.

10. I was just going to say the same thing !. Man-- what a golden
opportunity for Dems ! Wonder why they dissapprove -- do the opposite. Where the hell is the strategy. It doesn't take a rocket scientest to figure one out. I could write one off the top of my head in 1 hour !
