The Downing Street Memo Lives On! Schneider just on CNN's Lou Dobbs.
And I quote, "What we are faced with here is two conflicting accounts."

Kudos to Bill Schneider. He said this after clips were shown from the Bush/Blair press conference regarding the DSM and after asking the question that must be asked now, was the memo a fraud?

Excellent!

1. see, it's NOT a 'memo' but the minutes of a meeting, and it 's authen -
ticity has not been in dispute.

If it gets legs, it could spell trouble for BushCo.

6. Exactly, but to hear tony and **, I guess we're supposed to believe
that the British government is too inept to take accurate minutes of a meeting between two Heads of State.

4. This is it folks!
This is the breakthrough. I really have some hopes now that the shoe has dropped. Bush has finally spoken on the issue. This is BIG STUFF. Now we have him on record as discounting the Downing minutes, basically claiming they have no credibility.

No wonder Schneider had to say what he did. This thing may have languished on the back burner forever if Bush hadn't just stuck his big foot into it... but HE DID! The cat is out of the bag folks. This has got to have legs now. MSM can no longer ignore it. Watch out, here it comes!

11. Conflicting points:also known as "the truth" and "the lie"
It's not rocket science. Don't make it complicated. They fixed the intelligence. Just read that the old report that Bush fixed to clear the fixing-"group think". Indeed.

12. Sure smells...
Like "Rathergate", & Blair's goons are laying a trap to further discredit the defanged MSM...seems like Blair just plays the old monkey see, monkey do, right down the line...

All they need to do is pull the same stunt on British news organizations, they pulled in "Rathergate", & the deed is done...

Why is the media suddenly reporting something that could destroy Bush?

23. Yes they looked bad to anyone really watching and listening
Unfortunately, many many people watching won't know they were dissembling and diverting attention from the question unless they are told that by analysts.

22. Wrong. And caution
The adminsitration and the media would love to narrow the issue down to just the authenticity of the UK minutes. There is a WORLD of supporting information for the DSM....other sources of the same information. Articles, interviews with insiders, videos, and books have said much the same thing for years!

Don't let them frame the issue this way! Other threads on DU have been documenting all the other pieces of information...any good journalist or investigator or dem leaders would find tons of evidence with which to build a case IF THEY HAD THE WILL.

Did Schneider mention the Paul O'Neill account of the war run up and how all the intelligence reports he saw were highly qualified? Did he mention Karen Kwiatkowski? Richard Clarke? Did he mention the October 2002 Knight-Ridder article that stated that more than a dozen administration officials were concerned that the Pentagon was pressuring intelligence officials to cook the books? Or the DailyTimes article (AU) that quoted an Austailian scientist as saying the CIA altered his report to make the WMD case stronger?

No, he didn't mention any of these and many more because, just like the Rather memo, they want to put all the dem eggs in the one memo basket so they can tip the basket and walk away free.
