WG Man Claims He Is Target Of FBI Intimidation
Ben Garrett's political activism had FBI agents knocking at his door

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is demanding records of activities carried out under the Patriot Act that it sees as political intimidation of citizens, including a number of Missouri residents.

The ACLU is seeking documents under FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) that detail activities of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). Among state residents unjustifiably targeted, according to the ACLU, is Ben Garrett, a 1998 Webster Groves High School graduate who had been attending Truman State University in Kirksville.

Danny Harmann, stepfather to Garrett, was surprised to find the FBI knocking on his Webster Groves door last year. Questions asked revolved around Garrett's political activism and intentions to protest at the 2004 presidential nominating conventions.

The FOIA request filed May 18 by the ACLU of Eastern Missouri (EM) is among numerous requests from individuals and groups in Missouri, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Maine, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and more.

By the time the FOIA request gets filled, we'll be on Patriot Act v. 23
