Help me out here...since when is it an insult to be a White Christian?
What are we supposed to be freaked out about, according to the Republican Media?

The demographics of the Republican Party are overwhelmingly white Christians. No insult. So why are we so worried about Dean saying so? What are we afraid will happen? White Christians who hated Bush will suddenly feel they must now flock to the GOP because Dean called them white Christians? It doesn't make sense.

"Oh my! I'm an outraged white Christian, so I'm going to join the party whose values I don't share, because the party whose values I DO share called me a white Christian!"

Come on, people. We need to get a grip, and just laugh at the GOP when they try to pull this crapola.

1. Dean's only mistake...
was not adding the modifier "ugly." Have you seen that James Dobson? He's hideous.

2. Excellent point.
But the Republican-White-Christian (in that order) will be "outraged"!

Why, they'll be so angry at being identified as RWC's, they'll continue to be RWC's...and, frankly, I don't want them in our Party.

3. Just as many Democrats (of all color) are CHRISTIANS too!
But you're right.. more ReTHUGS are lilly white.

What's that OLD saying?

"Not all Republicans are racist, but all racist are Republican"

I didn't coin the phrase -- it's been around forever.

4. when being a white christian,
is seen as being in line with those who hate gays, want abortion made illegal, see poverty as a 'lifestyle choice', care more about what people do in thier bedrooms than the fact that we are murdering, and maiming thousands of people in the name of "righteousness" and calling upon God to 'bless us'-
When we judge others to be 'heathens' and doomed to hell, while we ourselves are FAR from 'perfect'- when being a 'Christian' means being on the 'right wing'- and hoarding up treasures on earth, justifing hate, and cruelty, and repaying evil with evil-

When we gladly spend millions upon billions of dollars on ways to kill rather than to save lives, here at home, and all around the world, and call ourselves 'compasionate christians'-

i DO believe that Christ the true Christ would have no part in any of what is being done in politics, in HIS name- and under the lie that it what "he" would have us do-

Just as the 'republican party' means the EXACT opposite of what it originally meant- (the repubs, and the whigs are now the Democrats and the 'right wing republicans) being a Christian in america, is not what it used to mean- i distance myself from that 'label' but i DO believe in being a follower of Jesus Christ- there is a vast difference.

5. The reason why they are so mad is that it is the TRUTH
They hate the truth and truth tellers.

6. I must admit to being a little disconcerted with my views lately
I am having to constantly remind my self that the majority of Christians are not rabid, fanatical, Right wing zealots.

I realize it's akin to saying all Moslem's are Rabid, fanatical fundamentalists.

I console myself with the fact that at least I can appreciate the prejudice I am forming and try to combat it, whereas some from the other side embrace the opposite view and feel we should bomb them out of existence.

Still, I am having some issues reconciling the fact that the actions of a tiny minority of Fundies are prejudicing me against the majority of decent upstanding Christians in this world.

8. You're not alone
I'm finding myself forgetting that not all Christians are like the extremists.

Its hard to NOT see things that way though, when was the last time a reasonable Christian voice was heard?
