Did everyone send Kennedy a thank-you note
for talking about the DOWNING STREET MINUTES? (and where the hell was kerry on this since he said he was going to bring up the "issue" on monday. well, today was tuesday. time's up!)

here's my little thank you note to teddy:

re: THE DOWNING STREET "MEMO"
Dear Senator Kennedy,
Thank you--so very much--for speaking the words "Downing Street" and all your comments on it. Please don't stop talking about it--please speak of it again and hopefully it will get more media coverage.
Thank you for referring to it as the "minutes" of this meeting.
Now that you are aware of it what can we do?
Please support John Conyers in his inquiry into this matter.
Thank you again.

teddy's website:
http://kennedy.senate.gov/index_high.html

his comments from raw story:
"The following was released by Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) on the Downing Street Minutes this morning. Kennedy becomes the first senator to raise the issue in the Senate, after earlier reports that Massachusetts' junior senator, John Kerry, would speak about the minutes in Washington.

#
“The contents of the Downing Street Minutes confirm that the Bush Administration was determined to go to war in Iraq, regardless of whether there was any credible justification for doing so. The Administration distorted and misrepresented the intelligence in its attempt to link Saddam Hussein with the terrorists of 9/11 and Osama bin Laden, and with weapons of mass destruction that Iraq did not have.

"In addition, the Downing Street Minutes also confirm what has long been obvious – that the timing of the war was linked to the 2002 Congressional elections, and that the Administration’s planning for post-war Iraq was incompetent in all its aspects. The current continuing crisis is a direct result of that incompetence."

(i don't watch the non-news anymore)

i remember they had him not report the news (about a month ago) in order to do a one hour special on teenage pregnancy. after that, i was done with him.

As for Kerry, I heard that some right-wing website had seeded the rumor Kerry was going to speak about the issue on Monday in a floor statement, evn though the floor was CLOSED on Monday.

Kerry will do what he said he would.

Ever see this?

6. you're confusing that with newsmax and al jezeera using the word
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 12:27 AM by orleans
impeachment--that was the story on olberman yesterday. newsmax is the "right-wing website" i think you're referring to.

the "Monday" quote was what kerry said when he met with the editorial board of the southcoast/standard times--i doubt he'd go and talk to the editors of the southcoast/standard times if they were right-wing like stupid newsmax.

here's the quote

"When I go back (to Washington) on Monday, I am going to raise the issue," he said of the memo, which has not been disputed by either the British or American governments. "I think it's a stunning, unbelievably simple and understandable statement of the truth and a profoundly important document that raises stunning issues here at home. And it's amazing to me the way it escaped major media discussion. It's not being missed on the Internet, I can tell you that."

on edit: thinking about it--maybe kerry did do what he said he'd do. maybe he did "raise the issue" monday with kennedy and they decided it would be better if kennedy brought it up--if kerry raised the issue all the repukies would scream "sour grapes" and say he was still mad about losing the election or some such shit.

8. Why?
Because he sent an email to supporters and kos on the subject??

I love Teddy and he is a great senator, but frankly, on this issue, the blogs are not what needs to be addressed. They have been aware of it for a long time.

1/ He only addressed this issue after many other people did, including Tim Russert on MTP.

2/ He did it only in front of an audience where nobody disagrees.

So, it is nice and makes us feel nice, but it is totally useless.
