What was groundhog day?
I'm watching CSPAN coverage of House floor debate on aggricultural funding (exciting!).

A Dem rose and said words to the effect of "turn on your tivo's tonight, because whatever is decided now will be force changed by the majority tonight, like last year's groundhog day".

Any help here?

1. A movie starring Bill Murray.
He played a dork who had to live the same day, over and over again, until he got it right. It's called Ground Hog Day because he's a TV reporter sent to cover that days' festivities.

2. just guessing ...
only based on the context, i wonder if the reference was to the abuse of the rules that occurred to override the will of the majority on the medicare bill ... i think that type of outrageous conduct may be anticipated ...

just a wild guess though ... i have no idea ...

5. Yes, it was some procedural move, probably when they kept the vote
open way past time, and literally twisted at least one arm.
