7. Nebraska Nelson.
He seems to have trouble remembering there's a (D) after his name.

I'll predict 56-44 with Chafee joining us and Ben Nelson and Landrieu voting to confirm.

16. Just a guess, and haven't
watched any of the debate to hear what each has said, but if I had my guess, we hold on to Landrieu, and the repukes hold on to Chafee. Ben Nelson votes to confirm. Total--Yes on confirmation--56-44

6. Brown was appointed to the Supreme Court by Rep. Gov Pete Wilson in 1996
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 04:16 PM by flpoljunkie
She was not re-elected in 1998. She received a 76% retention vote in 1998. This is the way we do it in Florida. Governors appoint Supreme Court judges, but they must stand for retention periodically, in a state wide vote.

She is corporate America's wet dream--cannot imagine her losing any Rethug votes.

49. Even if there were the repugs would violate it
I wouldn't trust these aholes any further than I could throw the collective lot of them. I still think we accomplished nothing by the "deal" to save the rules of the Senate, we can't take many more victories. In fact it looks suspiciously like defeat with none of the upside of having fought the good fight.

Am I merely a jaded old cynic?
