FAKE OUTRAGE! For instance, look at the idiots out there crying foul over Dean's comments about Republicans! They aren't angry, and they even know it is true! It is just fake outrage. They do it on everything. Everytime it is the same too. GET A LIFE REPUBS!

1. Try this perspective:
Get someone to stop Dean from giving them that kind of bullshit ammunition.

I'm so tired of him making himself the issue.

Don't we all know that Dean's namecalling and worthless characterizations just make him look like a bully to the very people he's excoriating?

I wish the Democrats would just get it together. I know that's too much to wish, but I do.

4. STOP IT!
Dean's "white Christian" comment was NOT an insult! Did you read it? Hear it? It was totally in context, totally non-insulting, and totally correct.

It isn't Dean causing the problems...it is US, democrats who jump to attention to perform for the republicans every time the make this shit up. WE ARE DOING THIS TO OURSELVES, NOT DEAN! Just stop letting the republicans create our message for us! Just stop it! Support Dean, don't be an echo chamber for republican talking points!

8. Absolutely
It would appear that Democrats have the attention span of retarded budgies. The first sparkling item that appears, and they jump on it, while the Karl Rove plan is to stay on message no matter what.

I am beginning to believe that the lefties are not only uneducable, they just might be untrainable.

What are you talking about?
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 09:27 PM by The Jacobin
The only people upset by Dean are Republicans. Everyone else either doesn't care because it isn't an election year or they are a hand wringing Democrat who have been so abused by Republicans they cringe at anything that might get the Repugs mad again.

Stand up for yourself, man.

Deans ONLY FREAKING JOB is to raise money for the Democratic Party.

*****NEWS FLASH*****
(Print it on Drudge if it makes you feel better)
REPUBLICANS DON'T GIVE MONEY TO THE DNC!
********************

So fsck what they think.

Dean motivates the base. If you don't like what he said then take a good long look at yourself in the mirror -- because you ain't part of the base anymore.

7. Did you really mean "So fsck what they think"?
That's the kind of attention to detail that repeatedly keeps Democrats coming in in second place. It's also a splendid example of the ugliest kind of intolerance. By God, you're this close to being a rightwingnut, you're that simple-minded and nasty.

This is what you do when someone has an opinion different from yours? And you call yourself a Democrat? Don't be silly.

Dean motivates a slender sample of the Democrat party. If you think he's any kind of mainstream Democrat, you've got a lot to learn about how it works. And if you actually think he's some sort of "base," you're living on another planet.

He's rapidly becoming a clown, and as long as he keeps himself as the issue, he'll feed the Karl Rove Distraction Machine.

Now, behave yourself and stop misspelling simple four-letter-words. You're embarrassing yourself.

Sit up straight, too.

Sorry for the delete/dupe/delete...the board is acting funny.

This is supposed to be a response to Jacobin's post, but it is unnumbered, and when I try to respond to it, it always puts it as a reply to the wrong message.

13. Why?
It's exclusive, and excluding, and absolutely exactly what the Democrats are not about. Why honk intolerance because you favor one man, when, in fact, the principles are what matter?

Even to speak of "the base" is in error, because there are far too many groups to speak of one "base." There is a party, and that's what the Republicans know so well, what the Democrats just can't seem to grasp.

15. Because Dean said NOTHING WRONG.
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 10:55 PM by Atman
The media is feeding this, creating this, and WE are keeping it alive by the constant infighting and bickering. Read Dean's words. Then look at a picture of the last RNC convention and count the "diversity."

Stop playing into their hands. You are at once enabling BushCo and the media, and killing our party by helping divide us. We can't be "united" on everything, because we are not like the GOP, which is a very homogenous party. So, our best hope to take back America is to FIGHT LIKE HELL NOW, get back the White House, then deal with the media. If we keep worrying about makeing EVERYBODY happy, we'll make no one happy.

Here is a great post which offers a perfect explanation...

16. You really do keep it going
Why are you insisting that I drink your Kool-Aid? I have my opinions, they're different from yours, I'm not insisting that you agree with me, yet you're trying to shove yours at me.

Give it up. It's irrelevant. As irrelevant as Howard Dean is making himself.

There are more important things to tend to, but as long as you keep insisting that people think exactly as you do, you're missing it all.

11. Did Shrub go after Dems to vote for him??
HELL NO!!! He went after his base. He pandered to them. They spent their whole convention slamming Democrats!!! Were they worried about hurting the democrats feelings? HELL NO!! Were they worried about alienating the democrats? HELL NO!!!
Then why the hell should we play kissy face with the repugs?? We ain't been winning them over with our niceness. Time for a different strategy. Dean's the man.

12. Did Shrub bother calling the Democrats names?
No, he did not. As you so correctly pointed out, he played to his base.

Howard Dean is doing the exact opposite.

We need someone who will play to our strengths, not waste time being the Republican anklebiter.

Dean's making a big fat mess, and he's getting worse.

14. He didn't have to.
Of course not. He had people in the party to do that for him.

Note that the potential candidates (Richardson, et al) are carefully distancing from Dean. They will have to reach out to the moderate middle in the future. Dean will not.

Dean isn't the presidential candidate. He is the DNC fundraiser raising money from Democrats. Anything he does to stir up the base raises money for the party from that base.

P.S. Yes I really did mean to type fsck

18. And yet there's another thread on the board
where a group of Republicans were basically agreeing with Dean about that part of their own party. They're take seemed to be, why is everyone getting upset when it's true? I imagine that would be the non-Fundamentalist contingent.

Dean needed to say Fundamentalist, not Christian. We have Christians. And they don't own God.

24. What did he say that was incorrect or offensive?
Are you offended by white Christians?

Are members of the GOP primarily white Christians?

Why are you so offended by a man speaking the truth?

Why do you insult Christians so by turning them into a prejorative? Dean only was speaking to the GOP's diversity as a party. If you actually read his full comment in context, this would be obvious to you.

But go on, keep carrying the republican's water for them if you feel that is what is best. It is a free country.

For a little while longer, anyway.

26. Gee - you're even more offensive than Dean
So, I don't agree with you. I perceived Dean's comments as unfair characterizations, as useless anklebiting, as gross and inaccurate stereotyping, as unnecessary attacks, and you think I'm some sort of Republican follower?

Gee. And people wonder why the Democrats are in such bad shape.

How come your opinion is better than mine? Why does how you perceive something become "right" and mine "wrong"?

Why do you feel the need to try to insult me personally because my opinion differs from yours?

The problem is that Dean wasn't speaking the "truth." He was grossly mischaracterizing a group, in a way that, if he had said the same about African-Americans, would have torpedoed the Democrats for the next generation.

There is nothing to be gained by doing what he did.
