Another Site Says Any U.S. Adult Can Get Medical Care
by walking in and demanding it. Yes, it was a right wing site that doesn't realize that American adults are dying daily because they cannot afford medications, surgeries, etc.

Children average al little better as long as the treatment is not unusual or yet proven. These kids die also if the posible treatment is experimental.

This right wing BS about adults being able to receive treatment is BS unless they have the insurance and $ to pay for it.

1. I wonder how many people who don't have heath care, can't afford it,
or have lost their will read these sites and actually believe it?

I bet you'd be amazed at how many fall for this bs!

4. Agreed
Americans think we have some universal health care program for the poor and uninsured. We don't. They die. There is no law that says a hospital must perform tests and surgeries for the uninsured adult. They turn them away. That simple and tell them to come back when they have the $. They let them die.

You hear so much talk about the culture of life by this administration but if you are poor and uninsured in this country, you die. No money, no treatment.

14. First Hand Experience Here...
Two years ago my husband was laid off from a major company he had worked at for almost 20 years.

We do not have health insurance. Now, my doctor's office called me and told me they would not refill my prescriptions which ran out UNTIL I saw the doctor again (haven't been there since Dec 2004). I then called to make an appointment and the person there said I owed $50 and until this bill was paid I COULD NOT have an appointment!

Just die already!

8. You get emergency care
and they take a default judgment (which you authorize on admission without insurance) - and when you don't pay they garnish your wages and lien all of your assets.

The magic is - they don't execute on the judgment until you either declare bankruptcy or die -- then they execute their judgment - the lien.

11. But they will not give you tests or perform surgeries
We have people all the time requesting donations to get treatment. My main point is that "No" there is no health care for the uninsured poor.

12. They have to "stablize" you and that's it.
If you have had a head trauma they will release you and if you don't have insurance try getting another MRI or CAT scan... you will die of a brain anuerrism or stroke long before they will give you one.

My sister in law recently had massive head trauma after hitting her head on the track in the 400m hurdles after getting her legs wrapped around a hurdle and falling on her head. she got an mri that night which showed bruising in three places and then they took another one that morning and there wasn't any progression and so they let her go. They said to watch out for ear aches and fluid out of the ears. She got bad ear aches, very bad short term memory loss and fluid out of the ears and was sleeping all the time (parents had to wake her every 2 hours so she wouldn't slip into a coma) and her parents have good insurance but they got the run around to getting another MRI until her doctor demanded it (once again good insurance=good doctor who knows the hoops to jump through, time to care, etc.) but STILL the only MRI place that could do it "in network" could not get her scheduled in for a week. My mother in law was understandably upset, "if she has an aneurism or stroke before then, what then?" The person she talked to was very upset herself but told her there was nothing she could do. Once again, this doctor they were very lucky to have threw her weight around and get my sister in law in to have another scan which told thme the problem and she is getting treatment for it and is MUCH better (this happened only a month ago). It was very scary for a long time and we are now getting out of the woods. But this ONLY happened because of good coverage, good facilities and good doctors... and even with that it almost DIDNT happen... how many people die while waiting on some long ass list for "preventative care." That is a statistic they sure as hell don't want to know.

We need to get the truth out about the medical care in this country or lack of it.

15. You are so right
they have to stabilize the person whose life is in danger. Once stabilized they are released and advised to see their doctor. Ha Ha

16. Death Bed Care
If you're on your death bed, you can get care. That's all anybody in this country is entitled to anywhere. Be sure and post just that, "Death Bed Care".
