Now is the time to compile a list of Congressional Republicans... |
|
...who spoke out during the Clinton witch hunt about the need for him to resign. If I recall correctly, these “requests to resign” were made before the impeachment by the House, and on the slimmest, if not unsubstantiated, “evidence” possible.
These accusations and the resign requests occurred thoughout that debacle, usually emitted from the House floor, so why don’t we compile a list of those Republicans and, if they’re still serving in Congress, ask them, in the wake of DSM, why they haven’t asked for Bush to resign? After all, the DSM is certainly more damning than whatever “evidence” the GOP's Ken Starr had. Hold them to their pious value that lying Presidents should resign! It’s time to rake these Republicans through the burning coals of their own making!
Any DUers remember who said what in this regard? Perhaps a list could be sent to media outlets that will make public these names with the request that they explain why they consider Bush’s lies to be different than Clinton’s.*
_____ *Yeah, yeah, I know. Clinton didn’t really lie. He used a legal definition for “sexual relations” that the GOP wasn’t counting on. The long and the short of it is: Republicans hated Clinton for his legal savvy, but no doubt would want his services if they were facing legal troubles…
:dem: On a related note, I suggest this bumper sticker:
They impeach lying Presidents, don’t they?

2. We should begin applying public pressure |
|
..particuarly to those up for re-election in '06. GSFfP will be meeting with Congress June 15 http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1838779Members of Congress, PARTICUARLY those who called for the impeachment of Clinton, should be held accountable for refusing to act. What powerful & effective adds we could run during their campaign. BTW,I love the bumper sticker idea.

Put them on the defensive! Ask them why they haven't called on Bush to resign. Make them explain why they consider the "evidence" gathered by Ken Starr to be any different in validity than the DSM, an official accounting of a meeting among British government officials.
I, for one, would sure like to hear their answers.
But the main thing is to keep the pressure on these hypocrites!

5. Can you imagine an add by one of the Veterans groups? |

If the repubs let it get that far many of them would be toast in '06. Some well applied pressure could *help* them do the right thing:)
