A MUST READ RESPONSE TO DEAN SLAMMING
First off in my opinion the LAST thing we need to do as Democrats is to publicly second guess each other, if we think that any one of us has "stumbled" we need to remain united and move on.

Thats what the Republicans do.

If we disagree with an opinion that one of ours throws out there, we need to remain united and move on AND while doing so CHANGE THE SUBJECT AND TURN IT BACK TO WHAT WE WANT TO BE THE SUBJECT.

Thats what the Republicans do.

The only thing I see as missing in the equation is someone or a group of someones that create the "Talking Points" to immediately redirect the subject like the Republicans do. Ideas?

Bonddad has a diary on KOS that hits the nail right on the head.
"Where was the outrage when Hannity, Rush or Coulter Said...."
It should be mandated reading for each of us.

1. I agree
but I should point out that Hannity, Rush and Coulter are wingnut personalities and not official spokespeople. Apples and oranges.

4. He even responded to that argument in the diary..
BUT, I get your point.

" Some people have commented that Coulter, Rush and Hannity are not party leaders. Bullshit

As for the party leadership, how about Delay and Cornyn threatening judges? Will that do? "

5. The "threatening judges" works fine
and numerous Republicans publicly distanced themselves from those remarks. They even made MSM mentions though it didn't start quite such a firestorm as this.

Let Dean be Dean and talk about BUSH for gawd sakes. Our country is crumbling before our eyes and Dems are bitching about Dean telling the truth?

:eyes:

"Wake me when it's over" as they say.

8. Wasn't Kos on Dean's payroll?
Hannity, Rush, and Coutler are the Republican Party's bombthrowers. It's their jobs to serve red meat to the base. None of them are RNC officials.

If Dean wants to go on Meet the Press each week and say whacky stuff, he should quit this job and get a radio show or something.

11. It was not KOS that wrote the diary.
It was an everyday, regular old, angry Democrat that was sick and tired of seeing us attack each other and by doing so play right into the Republican hands.

9. "Party Discipline" and talking points...
..definitely agreed. Someone needs to train the damn Democrats on how to conduct themselves in public and how to be FOCUSED on the issues at hand and stop being dragged to distraction by bullshit. Jeeeze.

policy and how it's hurting Americans.

It is fruitless, and actually plays into the Repugs hands, to say, "but, but, but, your guy said.........". We want to return the conversation to the real issues, not play gotcha. This is what they want - a totally peripheral pissing contest so there is no time left to talk about issues. How much more effective would it be if <insert Democratic leader's name here> had said, " What Dr. Dean said is not the issue I want to talk about - why are you journalists asking me about this and not asking the President or the administration about the Downing Street Minutes? Here are a couple of questions that many Americans want answered: Was the outing of Valerie Plame related to the policy revealed in the Downing Street Minutes? Have almost 1700 American soldiers died simply to keep the administration's poll numbers propped up enough to win a second term?" etc.

15. Good points..and obvious anywhere in the country but in the beltway
The thing is...these talking point strategies are so obvious to the average DUer. Why the HELL doesn't the party go with them? Why don't they TRY to win???

The ones who go out of their way to criticize Dean are the same Democrats that have turned the party into the Washington Generals over the last decade. How many DLC betrayals will it take before we start to ignore their "play to the center" "queensbury rules" "Joe Republican is my best friend" attitiude?

17. BRAVO ..
"No matter how people focus on other issues, we're going to talk about what we feel is so important to people all across this country," Reid said."

Now he needs to get the word out there.

18. Cheney tells a senator to fuck himself on the Senate floor
and not a peep from the 'pugs about how inappropriate that was. Dean simply told the plain truth. I don't see anything wrong, or offensive, with that. Telling someone to fuck themselves to their face, now THAT is offensive.

Why do we keep letting them make mountains of our molehills, while we ignore the Himalayas they create?

22. Doesn't 'white christian' describe 85% of the GOP ?
Google White Christian and all that comes up is the KKK, Fristians, and the Republican platform.

This should be a no brainer for Dems, even Olbermann thinks Dean is doing this on purpose!
