LMAO! What's wrong with this statement? |
|
says that his unpublished studies of GM rice developed by CAS scientists containing both Bt and CpTI genes show that in natural environments, the pollination distance of rice is negligible beyond 10 meters (rather than the previously recognized distance of 100 meters.) "If the result can be widely proved, there will be no need to set up a wide refuge belt for GM rice so that the difficulty and costs of doing so will be largely reduced," says Wang. Yet, pollen movement studies are notoriously difficult to execute and the results tend to be highly dependent on the prevailing natural conditions.

... corrupt the existing crops and force adoption by natural means. The Monsanto strategy.

7. Monsanto is known for introducing... |
|
... various GM crops into areas where there's considerable opportunity for cross-pollination with non-GM crops. When that cross-pollination occurs, the GM genetic set transfers to the next generation of seed in the formerly non-GM crop. When that farmer saves some seed and plants it the next year, Monsanto then extorts license fees for the farmer's use of "their" seed without paying.
Neat, huh? If you're Monsanto.... If you're a farmer that doesn't want GM crops, you're screwed.

And there's no way for the farmer to tell the difference.
Just evil.

... and in the case of the original post, what's proposed is a trial with the GM crop to "prove" a hypothesis which is already contradicted by the existing evidence. Even if the trial fails, and the GM pollen goes much further than hypothesized by the GM firm, the test plan has accomplished their ends--it's contaminated the nearby crops.
Cheers.

This worked fairly well with corn, unfortunately.

4. Good way to promote GMO by denying their dangers?? |
|
Let's plant GM rice and underestimate the problems in case there are problems in 5 or 10 years.
